Bumrangrad hospital in Bangkok

They have a unit that specialises in strokes and cancer. I know from personal experience

My doctor was Dr. Surasit Issarachai. He is excellent and travels the globe and is on the board of the hospital committee and many boards in the states and Europe

He is therefore very busy and you need to book to see him. Once a patient he takes a personal interest in you and always explains the diagnoses and offers you the options

He's saved my life twice

On top of that the hospital has the very best technology in the world

Almost 50% of patients fly in from Europe, Africa, Australia, Russia, Scandinavia,India and all the Arab countries

Not cheap by Thai standards but cheap from a western world private hospital

Also the place is brimming with all one needs and I sometimes make a Freudian slip and say it's the best hotel in Thailand

The aftercare is second to non and the nursing staff and doctors and specialists are highly qualified

There administration and support teams are superb. I even got a visa renewal done whilst there

Go for it

I think the BNH hospital off Silom Road is better than Bumrungrad. Its a little cheaper and more personal.

Bumrungrad gets my vote, too. Mum's had cancer twice. The first time op & chemo were HK, radiotherapy Bumrungrad with Dr Sunanta. Lovely, lovely, thorough woman. Second time, all Bumrungrad. I'm sorry, I can't remember the names of her other doctors, but I would thoroughly recommend their oncology dept (& particularly Dr Sunanta).

BTW, it may have been a one-off & it was a long time ago (8 years), but BNH made a misdiagnosis of Mum's first cancer. They said it wasn't anything to worry about. She flew to HK for a second opinion & was operated on within a week.

Sounds good Jockey but are they top notch on heart failure, strokes and cancer?

Do they operate an ambulance service that will retrieve you from wherever you are with a doctor, nurses and high tech medical equipment to get you to the Bumrungrad?

If so I'll give it a try on my next seizure

hope I never get to test your theory :D

I went to Bumrumgrad for a diognostic check up six months ago. "VERY" impressed with there facility. Had no idea such a hospital existed in Thailand.
Why is it called 'after dark' when it really is 'after light'?

I only went for a health check so maybe Bumrungrad is better for more serious conditions. The misdiagnose at BNH Dawn reported is concerning though. http://www.bnhhospital.com/

Bum are also excellent on medical checks

Had one and nothing serious but they recommended based on my infirmity and my age I may have unknown problems in the nether regions

Said I should have a colonophisky (sp) . Camera up your bum with a laser to kill anything maligned

ducked out 3 times. Nothing goes up my bum except the odd doctors finger. The thought of a camera going up there scared the shit out of me (scuse the pun). I'm thinking it's a camera the same size as one of Buksis. Finally succumbed After being assured they would put me under

Panicked and sweated buckets until finally there in the theatre surrounded by hitech equipment. Knees to the chest and everybody smiling and red lights flickering from all the gear. One more plea from me 'you are going to put me under ?'

Quick injection and out like a light. Woke up in a bed and I said have you done it?. Yes they said and your all clear and here's the video.

Anybody want a copy? It's not a pretty sight.Turns your stomach. Oh they very nearly get that far up!!!!!

Reminds me of the movie about people travelling around your body after being shrunk. Can't remember the title

:D :D :D

Read it before but ALL hospitals have their hiccups

In many professions they close ranks and please remember particularly in Thailand 'It's never their fault'

My postings are based on statistics and my personal experiences and friends experiences

They (Bumrangrad) have saved my life twice and my friends life 3 times

In my friends case he had a serious heart condition and they dispatched an ambulance with a doctor, a nurse and full kitted out life saving equipment. A 7 hour round trip!!!!

It costs but 'Health is better than Wealth'
