Sara Jane's

Post by Western Gourmet »

Hi Richard... Thanks for the notice about Sara Jane's. I tried it and I agree, it's GREAT! Sorry I missed the turkey dinner, but I tried some of their local dishes and they were incredible. Just the right blend of Thai spice with Western grilling techniques. Absolutley, the best BARBEQUE CHICKEN I've had in years. My friends also tried the GRILLED SEAFOOD WRAPPED IN BANANA LEAVES... to die for! We also ordered a PIZZA a la Italiano and I was suprised at how good it was. I've eaten there every night during my stay and have not been disappoint once. Why don't they open restaurants like this where I live?
SARA JANE, you're the best!!! :agree: :thumb:

Is this a branch of the Sara Jane's in Bangkok? Could be a new theme for them. The SJ's in BKK (2 that I know of) are excellent, popular with both Thai and western folks, and serve some tasty Issan food.

I've had lunch at the Sindhorn Bldg location on Wireless Road (opposite US Embassy) a number of times.

Well, each to his own! I tried it last night, or perhaps there is two of them and I got the wrong one?

Ordered the "special", chicken curry, or what they claim was Masamun. Waited just on 25 minutes to get it, served with a scoop of rice on a side plate, (what we call a bread and butter plate), that small the rice fell off when I tried to spread it out a bit, and the best you could say about the chicken is; it was "bland". Also a small size bowl with more potatoes in it than chicken.

Did not see any American lady, and yes I did speak to them about the ridiculous size of the plate and was told: "oh, solly, next time have big".

What makes you think there will be a next time?? And the place was not busy, in fact I was surprised how quite the whole area was, although many of the other restaurants were packed.

Ordered American Breakfast:

Got 2 fried eggs bacon / fruit / toast /coffee. No salad garnish, sausages.

Tea cups were nice though. Expected more. Not sure if a revisit is in order.

Btw didn't manage to find somewhere to wash my hands after the loo....

not a great place for breakfast but adequate for me

What is an American breakfast?

They all advertise it but it is usually an English breakfast

My understanding of an American (USA) breakfast usually includes hash browns and steak

Who want a salad garnish with breakfast anyway?

Each to his own I suppose!!!!

If you want a 'full monty' try Crawford's, Buffalo Bills or Victoria
