All saints?
The Docklands Light Railway. Not only a sense of tradition lost here.
But one of the lowest moves i have ever seen.
Not since Hitler opened the 1936 olympic games has any one gone so low.
If you continue to disrespect the basic rules of MC. Then i shall have to resort, albeit, reluctantly to the European Union rules circa 1974.
Do you want me to start with the Paris Metro stations?
Mirabeau station. saint oven l'amone, cergy perfecture, gare de lyon.
No i guess not.
As you all know MC is British. As British as the Peterloo massacre of 1819.
In fact may i remind you of the very first rules.
I apologise to the Advanced players but it seems some of these wipper snappers need to be reminded.
Invented by Robin steel in Aldgate prison in 1700.
To this day seen as man that could see into the future. As we call him the MC Nostrodamus.
To invent a game before the railway was built. Sheer genius.
He spent 20 years writing it night, after night poring over the endless mathmatical possibilities. Einstien called him a genius. Some accolade.
Smuggled out in the rectal cavity of a black death sufferer.
A stupid move in hindsight.
However by chance 4 years later it was a rabid dog that dug him up.
History doesn't remember the name.
I think it was lucky.
That's the dogs name not the corpse.
At this time history gets a little faded.
Believed to have been caused by a guy called Fred Luddite.
Who fearing for his loss of livelyhood As chief quill sharpener for the King.
Smashed up the first Dell laptop computer.
However as you are all aware the hard drive was discovered by a guy called Eric. A sad snip of a boy who had too much time on his hands in his bedroom.
He was trying to turn hard drives into porn.
alchemists he was not.
In a fit of rage he threw the rules, printed on an early HP magic printer
into the street.
First printed in the Delhi times.
And as you know the rest is history.
I thought i would counter the last move by going south again.
But as a previous WINNER i think that is a little unfair. Also if we are still playing the Sunday rules. That is the English Sunday rules.
Not the Thia ones which have the seven hour rule.
A rule i may invoke in the future............
It can only be.
PICCADILLY CIRCUS.

DM: Ealing Common? Have you no style (or money)?. How about Knightsbridge - some posh shops and a fancy hotel.

Mr. K. - I'm in awe of your indepth and obviously unsubstantiated, but hitherto, well-researched history of MC. As I write I am getting e.mails from great, great, great sister-in-law of Robin Steel. I'm sure she can set the record (or rules) straight.

But Shoreditch? Creeks and paddles come to mind.

Your insider knowledge could possibly put us fledglings (we're ugly, and cute, and have no feathers) at a disadvantage.

But, hey ho, I'm willing to bite the bullet, put up with the the flack (re. my choice of light railway), face the enemy, button something down somewhere, laugh at danger and continue courageously onward to...

WESTMINSTER

V.S.

P.S. I used to have a few pals there, fortunately they've gone off to more lucrative pastures...

After a hard day at the orifice I log on to FOO and what do I find? A thesis on the history of MC. A very good one, might I add, but it has revealed your true identity, Professor Numb! Oh yes, I'm onto you. There was a rumour doing the rounds about a retired professor of endomorplasmography entering unsuspecting forums (fora?) to start games of MC. He went by the moniker ModeratelyMerry. He presented himself as a doddery and kindly old fart with an eccentric knowledge of the history of the game, but in truth he was addicted to winning. Am I ringing any bells?

Bell's? cor blimey, that must take me to

Bow Church

P.S. and it's not even Sunday

P.P.S. making two moves in a row is normally enough for automatic disqualification, Prof, but since you seem to be an entertaining chap, I'll invoke the GWB getawaywithmurder clause of the Iraq rules.

P.P.P.S. How many postings do I have to make before I get one of those red carroty things?

Hello DM

Those Carroty things are Chillies. keep on posting with your match of MC soon you will have one chilly under your belt.
I can remener there was a German spin off of MC called Alexander Platz. Played with both U and S - Bahn System here in Berlin. (U and S Bahn = Tube and inner citty train) It was not popular and played in few german MC society only!!!

Chillies, ah thanks Understud. Those would be those quite spicy things? Not like carrots then! I look forward to getting one under my belt, and I'm happy in the knowledge that this posting is another step on the long road to Chillydom.

If the Germans used the S bahn it obviously wouldn't work, as that's pretty much the same as the Docklands Light Railway (VS please note, and ask Parahandy not to mention the '39 rules again).

Prof "Numb" (hah) - any comments before your next move?

DM - Please get your facts straight - I mentioned the '49 rules, not the '39 set. They are, as you may recall, completely different. One was inspired by research into the co-relation between eating cabbage and drinking alcohol (some Russian influence there, I think), while the second concerned itself largely with the extinction of the passenger pigeon. Anyway, I see that I have been granted two of those spicy carroty things. I wonder why?

V.S. No more of this DLR stuff, please, otherwise it may be a case of Hello Kitty armbands at dawn.

Prof Numb - I see that the other two upstarts seem to have you rumbled. I told them nothing - honest.

Back to the important bit.

I tried this in the last game (and I think that I said this at the Brighton Conference), and got away with it, so I am going to try it again, because it was fun.

I've just seen Bradders' "Does size matter?" clip. I don't think I can quite bring myself to leave Cockfosters. I'll sit on the platform for a few minutes and just ponder the meaning of life...

DM: I don't think that sitting on the platform is allowed - not according to the rules - soon to be updated by the descendant of the MC bible (with whom I have intimate and regular contact).

She states that unless you are covered with The Times or The Guardian, then you are violating rules 134.2 and 135.1. You also need to be on a bench (preferably made of aged oak) and said bench should be of a height at least more than 1ft off the grimey platform floor.

Being an 'up-standing' citizen I'm going to hop onto another locomotive and trundle to:

HOLLOWAY ROAD

V.S.

P.S. I hope that you and Parahandy keep warm tonight (under the newspapers) at the aforementioned station. Goodnight. :)

I suppose Hello! magazine's no good then... and the seat was moulded plastic. Most uncomfortable. Definitely made for a Thai-sized behind.

Tarnation, VS! I was just off to bed when I saw your response, so had to refill my glass and roll another ciggy.

I'd be interested to know the nature of your intimate relationship with the lady in question. Does Parahandy know? By the way, what in God's good Genealogy Guide is a great, great, etc., sister-in-law...?

Do you have any idea what goes on outside Holloway Road tube station? DON'T LEAVE THE PLATFORM!! I'm on my way, and will whisk you to the serene and sedate safety of...

EALING COMMON!!

P.S. We may need to stop off at an all-night chemist's on the way.

P.P.S. Parahandy and I are just good friends. Not intimate. Not.

Interesting moves with this social interaction going on.

But whilst you guys have been having rub downs with a wet copy of the times.
I have been studying the 39 revised rules with great interest.
Using the dog leg manouvre with the every other Wednesday 1/2 price return.
Not to mention Ken livingstones confusion reaction.

Also avoiding the Heathrow express.
I think we can find an awayday in the country.
So pack your plus 4s and your 12 bores.
I'll bring the picnic.

Good evening, Prof Numb. From my point of view, the social interaction was a handy way of filling the time while I got over the shock revelation that those red carroty things were really chillies. Nothing more. As a matter of fact, I don't enjoy social intercourse. Don't really like people much, if truth be told. But I love MC.

I think the picnic is a terrific idea (just so long as I can sit alone under an isolated tree). I'm a bit knackered at the moment (after an exhausting night on Ealing Common), but will join you a.s.a.p. and then take you on to...
