Having rolled into town with The beast on route back home was sad to find the place very quiet & jazz weekend to boot. Most of the bars empty. The highlight of the weekend has to be finding the california mining co. After the laclustre approach to most of the eateries in town it was very nice to sit down and peruse an original, different menu. The food was excellent, service as good and will certainly be riding up here from Chumphon to enjoy again. I found the owner to also be very approachable and full of the genial host spirit. IMHO a lot of HH bars and restraunts could learn a thing or two. A lot seem to have got stuck in the rut of passing trade & seem to have lost the art of catering for customer needs. As said if you want good food, good service & a change from the HH norm give it a try.
When the highlight of a trip to HH is a meal the place is going downhill. ENJOY!!!!

Was in that place not too long ago. I found it to be interesting and the management look to be trying to make a go of things. Staff very pleasant! Would definitely consider it a good place for a crowd of people to meet up with for an entertaining night out. Couldn't say the same for a lot of other places in hua hin, particularly the 'pool' bars, which have become very boring and offer very little apart from idle gossip. In general I agree with the biker from hell.
Re: A breath of fresh air
Couldn't disagree with you more..the highlight of HH is good food at reasonable prices and very few tatooed pony tailed losers common to most towns in Thailand..the town virtually closes down after 11.00pm which is fine with me....If I wanted nightlife I would live in Pattya or Phuket..HH is an alternative lifestyle for the boring conservatives...and long may it continue..H2ODunc wrote:Having rolled into town with The beast on route back home was sad to find the place very quiet & jazz weekend to boot. Most of the bars empty. Big Jimmy we cant be talking about the same place. HH is now full of the poney tailed losers, coffin dodgers and general losers that Pattaya, Phuket and Samui attract. You talk of good food at reasonable prices. The last time HH had that was about 3 years ago. Friday I ate along by the temple, a few years ago a meal with a beer would be 100baht. It cost me 300 for average farang/ thai food????Now you have bars all passing off the same old crap and most of the restraunts as said have forgotten that you have to SERVE the customers need. You are paying well over odds for everything now in HH. I dont mind paying good money for good service. We often pay upwards of 120000 a night if we stay away from home but you expect good service for your money. In HH they just expect your money and if a few places start to chalenge that ethos the better. Most of the locals have very rose tinted glasses and cant see anything wrong with tjhe place. My answer is get out and about then tell me Im wrong

Are you talking Baht?
Do you realise that the equivalent of 1,700 Pounds per night?
Please tell us where you stay so that we can avoid it. Nothing against you personally, but I don't want to find myself with a bill that I can't afford.
Is that a typo?We often pay upwards of 120000 a night if we stay away from home
