taking flowerhorn fish from Thailand to Holland
Hello, We have a house in Hua hin and we come 4 times a year to Thailand.
Now we've seen the flowerhorn fish in Hua hin and we would like to buy this fish in Hua hin and take it back with us to Holland. I know I need a healthcertificate from a vet but I also need a special form that I can get from Immigration the Thai Ambassy in Holland told me this. Does anyone know what to do. I'm coming back to Hua hin in end of July so before that I want to have made all the arrangements. Thanks for all the info.

I have one of these, there is a breeder at the Mr Burger 3 restaurant on the canal road.
Can't help you on taking it back though, I would imagine it needs to be quarantined.

Yes I don't think it wonn't be a problem finding a place where I can buy one, The only question I have is, can I get a legal form from the immigration office in Hua hin that the vet can sign and declare that the fish I'm taking back to Holland is okay so that I wonn't get any problems at the custom at the airport in Amsterdam?
And no a fish doesn't need to be in quaranteen, Holland has no quaranteen issue. Only a declaration that that specific fish colour and etc. is free of diseases and this has to be signed by a vet and this has to be a legalised form from the Immigration office

As far as I know local immigration doesn't cover fish and they wont have a clue what you need (they often struggle getting their visa requirements for people right).
Maybe the Dutch embassy in Bangkok will have more info, try contacting them.

It's not Immigration as for people. There is an "immigration" (if you want to use that word) dept for animals at the airport (BKK). It's there you need to get the permission from. Same as for every dog I've exported. You can do this yourself, but I recommend using a Thai air carrier who will make all arrangements (incl flight & travel container, if needed) for a small fee. You still need to make sure the export papers obtained here line up with the import papers from your home country or the fish may be refused at either end.
You will probably find, that despite having a vet certificate, they will check it at the airport anyway. You will probably have to take it to them on the day you fly or before. This is certainly the procedure for mammals.

As Dawn says, use an airline cargo service that is used to flying animals, or a specialist freight service. The cargo airline I work for (Cargolux) flies everything from day old chicks to elephants, and I’m not joking about that, we had five elephants on a cargo 747, we’ve even had a refrigerated container full of penguins!
