Crikey. There's a whole load of things you can't do here. Even if you think about it.
Basically, Thailand is extremely protectionist.
I'm not making a moral call on that, simply stating a fact.

I have a client from here in the states that lives over there. He has a e-business. Took him a while, but it has worked out nicely.

Get a girlfriend.
Buy a bar and have it put in her name, makes the paperwork easier.
Free beer and parties every night.

To be honest if you're not yet sure what business you want to run you shouldn't be trying to run one. A successful business usually starts from seeing a gap in the market or something someone else is doing that you can do better (mine is the latter), not from deciding you want to start a business and looking at a shopping list of ideas.

Also, yes lomu is right about the protectionism. The rights and wrongs of it are complex. The wrongs are that perhaps it's not so good for us Farangs (though we have more opportunities open to us in some ways than Thais do so it's not so bad) and it means that maybe Thailand is poorly prepared to compete on the international stage. The plus side is visible from seeing what happens in a state that fails to protect its own people sufficiently (see the UK). Protectionism is ok in moderation.
