What time did you go there? If you go past the trafic lights on Petchkasem and Chomsin intersection towards Bangkok and turn to left after the motorbike shop, you should find the place. Their "office" is in the unfinished building in the "square". A friend of mine used it last Sunday so I don't think anything has changed. I think the last van leaves at 18.00.

Hi Best.
Yes, as far as I know, the minivans stop close to the Victory monument.

I took the minivan 2 weeks ago, no problems.
Leaving BKK take the Skytrain to Victory Monument station and exit keeping to the left. You will go along a very long above-ground walkway that will bring you down in a market-type area of shops and food stalls.

Go to the left between the shops and you will come out on a small street with minivans lined up going to various destinations. You are across the road from a high metal fence and the ticket sellers have little tables in front of the fence.

Cross the road (be careful) and ask for Hua Hin, they will point you to the right table. Ticket is 160baht and they will point to which minivan is going to HH. They leave every 20-30 minutes so if one is full just wait for the next one.

Best seat (IMO) is behind the driver. Avoid the front middle seat as there are no seatbelts. Some of the drivers are real cowboys and you don't want to be in the death seat!

Errrr Uhmmm that is the wornong direction geezer.

Anyway to be more specific. If you travel north going out of Hua Hin you will pass the second set of lights (fai deang) which is the intersection of Petchakasem Road and Chom Sin Road. About 50 metres (maybe 100) directly opposite the Tesco/Esso gas station you will see a small Soi to your left. There is a M/C dealer on the corner. Go up there and look to your right. You will see a disused theatre with minibuses around. There is a desk where you can buy a ticket. They will tell you the timeof the minibus that you are booked on. As BG says, get there before 18:00 hours.

Sorry,

I got stuck in a time warp after being abducted by an evil lady and was temporarily transported back to August.

Anyway it looks like there is nothing more to add on this topic.

Service is good, dangerous, hairy and the price will vary according to earnings inflation and rising fuel costs.

What's wrong with the train?

TRAIN NFW!!!

Post by Gin tonic - no lime »

guess, have you tried the train? Dec of 2003 I decided it would be nice to try the train (I hadn't discovered the minibus yet!!) I went to the station, and being a dummy to train travel anywhere but Canada, didn't realize there were different classes. Big mistake! I got on the regular coach with many Thai families, open windows, flapping doors lovely I thought... Unfortunately that year there were about 5 or 6 nights where the temperature got unseasonably COLD. Most of the windows would not close, I luckily had a light windbreaker with me in the coach, but no long pants, which were stored elsewhere with my golf clubs. I freakin froze, and on top of that, the dam thing took over 5 hours to get there, it literally crawls a lot of the way. The Thai families exerted ABSOLUTELY no control on their children, they were running up and down, crawling all over everything and hollering the whole way. The Thai adults (of course) ate the whole way, and the open windows provided easy access to the garbage dump that the Thai railway designers courteously installed the whole length of the tracks!! I am too old to subject myself to that torture ever again.... :cuss: :guns: :guns:

I have done this journey many times, johnnyk those directions were spot on.

Guess if you'd have bothered to read the thread you'd realise that those are the directions for the Bangkok end, just as best asked.

The train takes 4-5 hours, the minivan takes half this ... do the math.

Since this one has been asked a few times, I've put it on our map, marked in green:

Hi buskida,

Thanks, the map will really help. Just another not so "intelligent" question. How long will it take to walk from the minivan station to Hilton? The map looked close enough...kekek

Thanks for your patience wif me. :D

That will take 15 - 20 minutes. With suitcase and other stuff, forget it.
Grab hold of a tuk tuk or taxi. Minbus station is close to the Yamaha dealer so it's a long walk with luggage to Hilton.
