Filling re-entry form (TM 8)

Post by Hahuahin »

I forget year to year, but anyway I allow me to ask again. On the re-entry form it's a question as this: "My previous visa to Thailand is in the category of" Personally my last "Visa" which I got at the KL Embassy back in 2008 and many before that was a Multiple Non-O! Now I have a non-O based on retirement extension and are not convinced that Immigration are Interested in a "Visa" issued 15 years ago! If anyone knows what is correct here, I appreciate information.
Thank you.

If you go to Blueport you don't need the TM8 form. At the main office you need it.

Thank you for replying. I Usually apply for the re-entry when I do my extension but yes, I can of course do it later at Blueport.

Am I understanding this right that if I turn up at Bluport for a re-entry stamp, they'll do the forms and all I have to bring is a photo, passport, and 1,000 baht? What's the queuing like there, I've never been?

You shouldn't need a photo but I always take one if I've got one spare. They take your photo on a digital camera thing.

I imagine queuing isn't too bad this time of year. I went mid afternoon back in May and was in and out in about 5 mins.

Sounds good to me, Bluport is much more appealing than the shitfight that always ensues in the main office!

It must be boring as hell working in that joint government service centre in Bluport. We went in there last week and there was not one single customer for any of the services there until we made our enquiry.

I went to Immigration today and on the re-entry permit application I wrote "previous visa" which is the retirement extension obtained in Hua Hin last year and got no questions about it.
Incidentally, a new record for me personally today and I have never come out of any Immigration office in Thailand so quickly before.
42 minutes from when I entered the sliding doors on the 2nd floor until I went out again with a new retirement extension, re-entry permit and the IO officer even updated my 90 day slip :thumb: :)

I did my re-entry at Bluport and wow, what a difference. Firstly it was empty, secondly the officers are friendly and want to help you, and thirdly it took five minutes as opposed to an hour with no forms to fill, photos, or copying and signing every page in your passport.

I complemented them on their professionalism and asked if I could do my annual extension there since it was a much nicer experience than the Gestapo headquarters ... they laughed.

No, I wasn't there until 1025. No one before me for the document check downstairs, and it was also done in less than 5 minutes. Upstairs I didn't count waiting people but estimate 20. I had 6 people ahead of me with the same kind of que sticker but with different errands. Btw, the digital que thing was down so they called out the numbers.

You were lucky about it being empty. Monday probably isn't the best day to go, so I left it until the afternoon. Most were clearly there for 90 day reports, so that queue kept moving. But there were 2 in front of me for visa extension / re-entry and the one in front of me must have been extending their visa, as they took ages, but once finally summoned, it was all very quick and easy.

It demonstrates how redundent some of the immigration forms are, or should be.

Exactly, the form was generated on the computer with a digital photo after she entered the info which took a couple of minutes. They wont do that at the main office and require you to manually fill it out and supply wads of copies and photos ... probably kept this way on purpose.
