No flights to mainland China? Maybe because of the strict covid measures and quarantines there.

Plus, it's just their winter schedule effective for a few months. Add to that their fleet of aircraft has been cut significantly and many planes sold off or returned to leasing companies.

Their schedule is never again going to be like it was before.

Hi Nereus,
it has been strongly rumoured Thai Airways would be dropping Perth off their current daily direct flights list. God only knows why as the flights we have been on recently on have been at least 95% full.
Thai are offering flights PER-BKK but from SYD or MEL the PER leg to and fro with a deal done with Qantas so I'm led to believe.
So looks like the best alternative is to go with Singapore Airlines for now.
Complexity is so simply overrated

Thanks very much, deepee. I cannot follow their stupid online schedule, or find a reasonable price! What about Phuket flights? Are they that stupid that they are ignoring Phuket?

Being old and decrepit I really need a direct flight, but if I have to transfer along the way, then Singapore rather than KL.
Travel agents near me are also thin on the ground, most of them packed up during Covid.

The flight times to Sydney have been changed to from 5.10pm to 8.30am. Very inconvenient for me. Is this likely to be permanent?

I don’t think anybody on the Forum will be able to give you an accurate answer.

I don't think the airline can give you an accurate answer either.

It could be to do with daylight saving time change, which has just started on 1st October. There is also a strict curfew in place for Sydney airport. As you have not mentioned if you are talking about Thailand or Australia times, it is a bit confusing.

Those are the flight times from BKK. Arrives in Sydney 9.50pm local time. It used to get in about 7am local time. Those times have been the same for at least 5 years, so the change is a complete mystery to me.

It may have to do with airport slots. Thai was inactive and may have lost their 7 am arrival slot, and/or peak hour slots are more expensive than off peak hour slots and Thai is economizing as part of their bankruptcy plan. Peak hour slots for Sydney, and the most expensive, are 0600-1100 and 1500-2000 hours.

Note: Above researched from a variety of sources concerning airport slots.
