YouTube issue on smart TV

Post by thecolonel »

Before I Google this wondered if any forum members can help

Each morning I fire up youtube and select a vid to play

Had this Samsung TV in my room for 9 months... no issues

In last 3 weeks, the first vid I select pauses after a few seconds and says 'loading'

I then have to patiently wait 4/5 minutes before it starts again

It does happen on others later on too, but less likely to and less delay

Why is this happening now when it never did before?

I've turned router on/off several times, no joy

1. You have an older model and the YouTube app in the package has not updated. After a few years, the ago will cease to work (like on my Sony Bravia) because the manufacturer has only paid for that amount of time for that particular model.
2. Your hardware is not the highest spec and will therefore take time to load the cache.
3. YouTube wants you to subscribe for an ad-free version. In the meantime, the ads try and load and cause the delay.
What you can do is try and update the software on your tv. Worst case is to bin the smart bits and fork out for any android box.
Been there, done that. Good luck

1. Oh OK so I can't update YouTube app on the TV, bummer.
2. OK but why not happen before, some sort of build up of issues?
3. Software on TV is up to date (Auto on) I checked
4. Android box- good suggestion but not my equipment/TV but will investigate that. I could always buy my own I guess? Approx prices please. Any links?
Thanks again

Thanks for the help

Have similar issues which I've put down to old TV and outdated Youtube app (just get a black screen half the time I try to use it).

Will solve by using an Android box with Vanced on it.

These responses reminds me of the 'advert' problem. A while ago everyone was complaining of too many interuptive ads on 'smart tv' youtube. At the time I pointed out that I'd never had ads when using my smart tv. Then a while ago, LG offered an update to which I clicked the 'YES' box.
Since then I, like others, have been inundated with ads on youtube.
I wish now that I'd declined.

I knew nothing about android boxes.... until last night so please excuse my ignorance!

Borrowed one, plugged in, sadly he didn't give me the remote, so I can't scroll through and connect YouTube

Have tried using my Mi remote app to pair with phone this model (x96 max) but it isn't on there so tried selecting many other brands but no luck

Any ideas how I might control without the original remote?

I have it on trial for 2 days

I'm happy to buy a box but I don't have much clue what I'm buying!

Is this model any good?

It's 1250 baht on lazada

How does the ram and storage affect things with these devices? Bigger the better I guess

Anyone bought one recently that they are pleased with? Or ones to avoid?

Initially I want just for YouTube I don't think I want to subscribe to a IPTV type service, but you never know I suppose

I don't suppose you can buy a box that already has Vanced/new pipe on it??

TIA

Have you got a cordless mouse? I use mouse as well as remote.

Just checked as I bought a new one recently and moved the old one to the bedroom and it's a X96 max so you can borrow my remote for two days if you need.

I use the TX3 Mini and find it very adequate for running streaming services.

That's very kind of you. But I've decided to buy a box now so really my question now is which one?

Is the x96 max a decent one?

Cheers

Half the price of the x96 max

Is it too cheap I wonder?!

But you say it does the job

Enough memory /storage? Can I put vanced on it? Any come with Vanced?

Thanks

Buying a box is like buying a phone or laptop, you want the highest spec you can reasonably afford. I would say minimum 4GB and the latest android version. I bought X96x4 this time, there are reviews on the internet of some boxes.
