Thailand headlines/predictions for 2022

Post by buksida »

This is in Foo, so all tongue-in-cheek, but here are a few of my predicted headlines to appear in the Thai media in 2022.

Thailand vaccinates 150% of its population
TAT expects 30 million visitors in 2022
Thai immigration pushes for billionaires only
New Year road death toll reaches record level
Health Minister gets promoted to Prime Minister
China buys all Thai telecoms firms to help govt with surveillance
Thailand faces biggest drought after wettest year
Thai economy stronger than ever: Finance Minister
Govt to ban alcohol in public places
Expat visa extension financial requirements to double
Foreigners to wear GPS trackers to protect against Covid
Health insurance made mandatory for all foreigners
Black Pink Lisa to join cabinet as 'social advisor'
Thailand buys 50 retired warplanes from China

Feel free to add some more - will be interesting to see how many actually come to pass.

There’s definitely a few that I hope don’t - but despite your “tongue in cheek” predictions, unfortunately some will no doubt be quite accurate!!

90-day reporting ended.
After 10 yrs. of residency, permanent visas will be issued.
20, 50, 100 & 1000 baht notes will have different colors to make it easier to distinguish between them.

Maybe as in the UK, obtaining a long term residency visa will require the applicant to have a minimum standard of language capability!!

You don't have to in Central and S. American countries or Portugal. But they're in the civilized world of the 21st. C.

Good to see some optimistic predictions here, though likelihoods of anything improving on the visa front are very slim.

Like the corruption one, can see the headline already: "Govt cracks down on corruption, jails itself"

That's comforting because a reliable source told me that Transylvania is planning an air attack on Thailand within the next 37 yrs.
