Yeah, the extra 1.5 kms is a real burden. Seriously, those that live north of 94 have Macro, Big C or 2nd Villa Market to choose from. For me Tesco's is a waste of time and I was pleasantly surprised at what's stocked on the shelves at Big C recently.

It's not so much the distance, but for me it's taking some narrowish roads, or a couple of u-turns. OK, I use the disabled parking at Bluport when I go, but if Mrs BB is not with me, I find the parking slots a bit stumpy as well - have to judge how much car to leave outside the bay or encroach on the bay in front of me.

Nothing impossible, but an inconvenience.

My wife likes to shop at Bluport but she's a Bangkokian. I despise the place and refuse to pay 1 1/2 to 2 times the price of Makro for the same quality. Yes, there is a different selection at the "Gourmet" market but nothing that I need. Anyway, I live much closer to Makro and Villa North and don't have to make so many U turns just to buy food.

True but by the same token, if you live south of there, it's not. For me it's the closest mall and incredibly convenient - takes me about three minutes by car. If I only need a couple of things, I just ride my bike there. Also, although it's not the cheapest overall, things like milk and muesli are cheaper in the Gourmet Market than Tesco.

Since CP took over Tesco Lotus they have virtually nothing we need - virtually all of the Tesco products have disappeared, for instance. We buy most of our fresh stuff from the Hua Na market.

So if the Gourmet Market closes, we'll really miss it.

I will miss Gourmet if they go. They do have many things that can't be got elsewhere, even Villa can't compete with their selection.

They could move one [Villa] to BluPort and utilise the larger space!
So, if you can drive to Bluport in 3 minutes, you could drive to Villa in 4. My point was why would Villa want to move, and potentially make it more inconvenient to get to them for a large part of Hua Hin.

I doubt it will ever happen as I said in an earlier post.

But using your analogy, the difference is so minimal it really wouldn't make any difference. From 88/94 you don't even have to get on the Petch Road to get to Bluport.

And if people really want to go somewhere, then it's not such a big deal. And the parking's better. I hate the parking at the central VM, I hope that will be improved after the current works are finished - or have they finished now?

I can walk to BluPort. When we food shop there we get a taxi.

Villa Market deliver. If Gourmet Market closes I will do this. Does anybody use this service?

I don't use it, but have friends who have used it a lot since Covid, and they say it is excellent.

I wasn't disagreeing with you that BlúPort isn't as convenient for everyone who lives to the north end of town, just pointing out that for me living where I do, to the south of town, BlúPort is very convenient, much more so than Market Village or Villa.

I'm not sure about getting to Villa in 4 mins. It definitely takes me more than a minute to get from BlúPort to Villa Market. Probably closer to ten minutes at some times of day (depending on traffic) and I certainly wouldn't go shopping there on my bike or by walking, which I can easily do to BlúPort.

In the end though, it's all relative, it just depends on where you live.

Of course that’s correct, if you live north it will take you a few minutes more to get to Blueport and if you live south, a few minutes less, but it’s all hypothetical - the only people talking about VM moving to Blueport are Forum members and I don’t think they have any influence on this matter!!

There were some large gory flashing light panels to the right when I drove past earlier.

I'm sure that will attract thousands more to shop there.

Well currently it is a ghost town inside. Everything is closed apart from the supermarket.

Ironically they are setting up a stage out the front for an event, and I wondered why bother when the mall is closed, but then I slapped some sense into my own face and reminded myself not to apply logic.
