I'm pretty sure it's against the rules, or at least fair play, to take out your opponents with a laser.thecolonel wrote:Im considering acquiring one of these

Haha. I must say I'm more of an 'eyeball' guy at heart but I feel like experimenting as long as not too expensiveThailightzone wrote:I'm pretty sure it's against the rules, or at least fair play, to take out your opponents with a laser.thecolonel wrote:Im considering acquiring one of these

Especially as the 100/150 markers are occasionally just flat out wrong!

I can't help you off Lazada and there do seem to be a lot to choose from.
However, off Amazon, there's this one that I've been using for about 3-4 years -
It's excellent and accurate to a yard. I think I read that it's only sold through Amazon so that "keeps the price down?"
Anyway, in comparison to a Bushnell, for instance, it's very cost-effective. I'd certainly recommend it.

Brilliant, the link disappeared. I'll try again:

Re: Golf GPS Laser(not watch)
Damn it - I've had a few beers after golf today!!
Just search Amazon and look for the TecTecTec VPRO 500. It's under gold laser rangefinders on the first page.

Whilst I'm sure it's very good and good value too, to be completely honest i don't want to throw that much money at one. I just don't want one that badly so to speak
I think I'll wait for secondhand one to appear somewhere
Many thanks for the prompt response though and I hope you played well today! :-)

Re: Golf GPS Laser(not watch)
I prefer a watch, reasonably priced and accurate. Not sure about in Thailand.
My eyes are not brilliant and find looking through a range finder type difficult.
I bought a Tom Tom watch 2nd hand and its great.
My point is make sure you try one out to see if you can focus and use it.
I need glasses for reading and cant even see the figures the viewfinder is displaying.

I have found that golf wrist watch GPS distances in Hua Hin to be very hit & miss therefore unreliable.Mikeyb wrote:I prefer a watch, reasonably priced and accurate. Not sure about in Thailand.

I'm attracted to a laser as it's not working on GPS but light reflection
Who knows, maybe that technology is flawed too?
In a super ideal world I would borrow a laser, take it on my regular course and test it against my garmin watch and see how it compared.
I'm beyond convinced my watch gives me 'some' false readings.
This might sound crazy but I'm actually dead against the use of DMDs (distance measuring devices) and I wish they had never allowed them. I would rather they were banned and we all had to use our judgement and feel. Which I do 90% of time. But I like Tech too so I'm torn...
Plus they did allow them, so somewhat annoyingly it's got my curiosity...
Arrrggghhhh... as if golf is not tough enough!!

I bought one at the Hua Hin Golf Shop, it's a Chinese version, but does the job. The shop is near the railway track, north of the station and roundabout, near Tira Tiraa condo.

Bought Mileseey Pro Laser Rangefinder on Lazada about a month ago, 1700 Baht. Smaller than my old Bushnell (gave up after 10 years) and considerably easier to acquire flagstick. Sent COD from Bangkok 50 baht shipping.
Think is a better option than 2nd hand as Laser burn out is a problem with old rangefinders
So far all good with new one so can recommend.

Yes, was concerned re 2nd hand and battery failure
Will investigate, that's more like the amount of money I'm prepared to throw at one of these things as my heart is not truly in it, might end up being an expensive experiment.

So after about 16 months are you still happy with the Mileseey Pro?PJG wrote:Bought Mileseey Pro Laser Rangefinder on Lazada about a month ago, 1700 Baht. Smaller than my old Bushnell (gave up after 10 years) and considerably easier to acquire flagstick. Sent COD from Bangkok 50 baht shipping.

Re: Golf GPS Laser(not watch)
I bought a Mileseey rangefinder from Lazada for about 1700 Baht. Using a rangefinder is messy. You have to keep your hands very still which I found difficult. I used it for two rounds and then gave up on it. I bought a Garmin S12 watch which does everything I want and is extremely easy to use. I have played about 10 rounds with it and am very pleased with the results. This cost about 6000 Baht from Lazada.
