Flying to/from Thailand, latest updates

Post by Ginjaninja »

I haven’t heard of an airline specifically demanding a PCR, only the destination country.

Best ask the airline but I agree with above.

I'm not bothering with the tests either way to the UK next month.

From Eva Air website..
In compliance with the regulations of destination country, you might need to provide the negative COVID-19 test result within the designated time frame prior to departure and/or COVID-19 vaccination certificate. You can click Travel Restrictions to check the latest information with regards to COVID-19 related entry regulations.

Yeah, read the website and it mentioned Taiwan where Eva is based. Just thought it may be another one of these 'Thailand requirements' for departure.

I believe it depends on the rules applying to your destination

I believe it's the responsibility of all airlines to ensure their passengers can legally enter the country of destination. If they don't check then there is a danger that the airline would have to fly the passenger back to the point of departure at the airline's cost.

With only two airlines flying direct, that is hardly surprising. Eve have 3 flights a week and Thai Air 11, at least that's the latest I can find.

Anyone have any updates on this?

The last time I looked (at least 2 weeks ago) all prices were silly, both direct and via one of the Middle East hubs and can’t see it getting any better until al least the summer peak is over - but probably not until next year (we hope)!!

I came back from Austria today with a fully occupied Airbus A380 (more than 500 passengers). To my surprise, the TM6 form was not required. I only read that they are thinking about it.

At the moment (Kids off school, Summer Vacations), prices from the UK at least will be silly season - add that to the strikes and living costs, who can lest who can afford to travel?! TBH, even if I could afford it or be able to travel, I wouldn't want to.

At what cost, availability or reliability (all cancelling flights)?

TBH, it's going to be next September before we even consider things. Realistically, I'm not able to travel currently, BUT even if I was, from a couple of years past, we're looking at an additional £2 K plus on flights, massive hassle (strikes/delays/risk) etc. It's hardly the relaxing break we need!!

Sad times.....

Yes, I had some friends looking for flights earlier today for next month. They took one look at the prices, and they're not coming
