Documentation and where to go to register a 2nd hand car

Hi , I'm about to buy a 2nd hand car ( off a Thai ) and was wondering what documentation i need and where we need to go to change over the ownership etc. Also do i need to go to immigration for any paperwork ?

As far as I'm aware both buyer and seller need proof of address. For Thais its the blue book for farangs its the yellow book or immigration letter. Also need copy of buyer and seller ID/passport and of course the rego book for the vehicle.

Disclaimer: this may vary depending which transport office you visit.

Must have residents letter from immigration. More than 1 copy.

Thanks Guys, I guessed it might be another trip to immigration, where is the transport office we need to take all the documents too ?

It does depend also on where it's currently registered. If they are Bangkok plates, then it can only be transferred in BKK without having to re-register. I bought a car that was registered in BKK. It required a trip to the DLT office in Prachuab (can't be done in Pranburi). There, I had to re-register then return a few days later and exchange the current plates for Prachuab plates.
