Bars and nightlife in Soi 94

I agree about the death of Binta.. It was not the money coming in from the customers, it was what had to go out each month, and increased alarmingly year by year! Anyone hoping to open a new bar in town has a good choice of 2nd hand bar-furniture if the closed shutters of Binta gives away the closure clues.

New bars only 1 km from where I stay on Soi 94, is good news, next time I am in Hua Hin, I can leave the
motorcycle parked at my guest house. I do hope that there will be adequate parking for everyone
on the busy nights. TIT though, so I doubt that factor was part of the plans.

Had a rare weekend sampling some of Hua Hin's nightlife, most of which has now moved to the Soi 94 area. Big fan of live music so the three that stood out for me were Le Pub which has a nice laid-back atmosphere, big drink selection, and a decent band, Rock Zone down on the railway road which was rocking, and Cheers Bar opposite Le Pub which had a good farang band on Saturday night and decent grub. Avoided most of the Samui-style girlie bars with the drink price stings as they're not really my scene anymore (getting older I guess).

No reason to cross the railway and go into town anymore (in fact I didn't), it is all in this area. Closing times were around midnight, but I guess there were places still serving if you wanted to hunt for them. There were no police shakedowns and everything appeared to be operating at pre-pandemic levels, very few tourists though, and mostly expats.

It felt like being in Las Vegas compared to the sleepy hollow where we live which is still mostly locked down and restricted.

Go down the soi immediately to the right of Le Pub as you stand facing Le Pub, that leads to Route 94 and Rock Zone.

Go past Le Pub heading to Baan Khun Por, just before you reach BKP Woodstock is on your right. It used to be an Isaan restaurant.

As re old town Hua Hin, I'm told that if two bars closed down there then noone would ever go to the Bintablock area (Panama and Sam Sam)

Ped is an excellent blues singer and guitarist, I played with him in Bangkok, he's the real deal.

Also Wonderland 2 starting to get bars occupied behind the block of bars opposite Le Pub (Cheers, Irish Embassy etc) but maybe a step too far, not enough customers to go round methinks.

There was mention on a thread before about BKP sponsored by Chang so only Chang/Federbrau available. I had a visitor from Khon Kaen this weekend who likes to visit BKP if there is a known musician on for the Thai music so went on Friday and was surprised to see Leo seems to have taken over as the sponsor with Leo, Singha, My Beer all available. Don't go very often so don't know if its a one off for that concert or a permanent change.

You would be paying £30 entry for quality musicians like that at Ronnie Scotts on a Sunday afternoon.

Ped and his band should be in the Hua Hin "Jazz" and blues festival instead of the other pretenders.
