Best full English breakfast in Hua Hin 2020

Post by uncle tom »

The Limelight Bar boldly claims the best full English breakfast in town.

- Surely this is a challenge?

My waistline requires moderate participation in any contest, but I can suggest some ground rules:

1) Geographic limit - 2k radius from the clock tower perhaps - or further maybe?

2) Must be menu listed and appraised secretly

3) Cost limit of 250 perhaps, to avoid insane offerings

4) To be judged on:

a) Number of items
b) Quality of items as cooked
c) Overall quantity
d) Quality and diversity of condiments, and general quality of presentation

- Nominations?

- Volunteer adjudicators?

I believe Limelight, El Murphys and Father Teds all do a half decent breakfast, and fall into your criterion, although Father Teds is advertised as Irish.

Personally, I avoid those 3 because of parking. Breakfast places you may find me in include:

99 Cafe (behind Baan Khun Por on the road with no name)
Route 88 (Soi 88)
Hua Hin Fishing Lodge
Joes Bar (Soi 94)
Morning Coffee (Soi 94)
Oasis (Khao Takiab)
The Room (Khao Takiab)

A favourite with many is also Nanny's just up from the 2 7-11s on the link road between 88 and 94.

I have B.Eng (hons) on this topic. I would like to add a bar called (I think) Little Norway. Just inland from the the Chinese Temple area. Clean, good price and you get a coffee and an orange for around 99-120 baht. It would be useful if other posters added the price of breakfasts.

Is that for a full English?

When stating Full English contenders, it would be useful if posters could confirm the contents of their 'Full English'. IMHO no Full English worth it's salt contains plastic sausages, plastic ham, cremated streaky bacon or salad (although salad is a Thai thing, and may be difficult to avoid).

My comment on Little Norway: Probably stretching it a bit to say Full English.

Just curious...

What would be the cost of knocking up your own full English at home with good quality ingredients from 'Ham and Bacon' 'n the like?

There can't be much profit for establishments charging anything south of 200 baht, surely? Dunno how much discount they get when bulk buying the ingredients.

A few figures - eggs (size 0) cost about 4฿, a Ham & Bacon sausage costs 16฿, A slice of Ham & Bacon bacon costs 16฿

So with a couple of each of these, we're already at 70 odd baht. Including the tomatoes, mushrooms, bread, beans, butter, jam, black pudding (no thanks), tea/coffee, orange juice and ambience ( 8) ) I think 200 baht is quite reasonable, and anything less is excellent, for a full brekkie if ingredients are good.

I always liked Oasis for breakfast when I lived there. Can't remember the price.

Surely all this belongs on the other thread on full English Breakfasts in Hua Hin on which there is a minefield of very useful info from many contributors including ingredients, photos location directions etc

Not suggesting I might never post a duplicate thread but it can always be moved for the benefit of all users
???

Thanks

Yes, it does belong there, but we sometimes allow threads like this to refresh with current information.

This is Hua Hin. Restaurants and bars open and close with high regularity. Using the original thread can give a lot of misinformation, which can be annoying to say the least.

As an example, I recently spent a few days in Uthai Thani. We used Google Maps to find locally eateries. At one point, we found 6 restaurants in a row that that were once thriving businesses, but were no longer there.
