TOPS has (usually) some good Waitrose cheese that's very aged and crumbly. They go by number and I'm not sure if 1 or 6 is the most mature age as we haven't bought any for a while. I think 6 is the most mature?

Certainly in the UK, the higher the number, the more mature the cheese and I’ve seen some at number 7, but I think they might go even higher (9 possibly)?

I still don't get it. The picture from DB shows Mainline Vintage marked at 189 for 500g, or 378 baht a kilo. That's £8.91 per kilo. The EXACT same block, as in the link I gave, is £9 , or £18 per kilo.

Even Hinner points out that it's 30 NZD in NZ, a little less that 700 baht a kilo.

so:
Mainline Vintage Cheddar -

New Zealand - 700 baht/kilo
UK - 763 baht/kilo

Thailand - 378 baht/kilo

Mistake or not, I'll be over there this afternoon to get what they have.

To prevent her spitting out the tablet, perhaps you can crush the tablets into a powder and mix them with your decoy food.

Two years ago Thailand signed a free trade agreement with Australia that promised much cheaper beef. Yet to see that occur :(

I think it is a special deal that AP has on that cheese at the moment due to sell-by dates (which don't really matter with cheese) it is certainly not the normal price for it here so yes, be quick and load up!

But even Makro sell it at I think 245 Baht for a 470 gm pack so that’s about 520 Baht/kg

There must be some kind of special going on. Below photo is from a place called "Expat Mart" over here in the East, specializing mainly in UK imported products. He's a small shop and low volume place and can still make money at 269 Baht it seems.

In VM and Gourmet Market, Mainland is usually 209 for 200g, quite often reduced to 189. So, even with 2 months remaining, the AP offer is incredible.

I prefer Dannie Boy's at 189฿. In my book, 269฿ for 500gm is pushing it a bit.

Mission accomplished

Just to prove I wasn't talking rubbish about the price hike, this was a recent post. I guess I wasn't the only one to think their price rise was too much.
