Why there's so little left of the early internet

Post by PeteC »

A very interesting article and a trip to the past.

"It took nearly five years into the internet’s life before anyone made a concerted effort to archive it. Much of our earliest online activity has disappeared."...............

Go to the link below where the Million Dollar Homepage resides and try it, many links appear to work, however I only tried 10 or so. :D http://www.milliondollarhomepage.com

Interesting.

Google and Facebook are swallowing up much of the existing internet - in a few years it will be just two or three conglomerates that own and run everything, including all of your data!

That is happening in many fields. The record industry is down to a few companies that own everything. There are only 3 US auto companies that have enough sales to keep going. Tesla is an outlier. Not many US mobile networks, more banks are consolidating. There are probably many more that I don't know about.

Maybe one day there will be 3 countries that control everything. Russia+Europe & Africa, China +Asia and the US.+ the Americas.
