Historical Thai Art Exhibition

Post by PeteC »

Fine art has rich history (Photos at link)

On the occasion of the 108th anniversary of its founding, the Fine Arts Department, under the Ministry of Culture, has opened 12 exhibition rooms to display a collection of art masterpieces to celebrate the event. — Pawat Laopaisarntaksin

Among these is an exhibition of 18th-century Buddhist artwork from the Ayutthaya period, which reflects not only its political stability but also the growth of the city as a major commercial port in Asia. The artwork shows the glory of Buddhism in the Ayutthaya period, which paved the way for the motifs of the Rattanakosin era and the present. Those interested can visit the Bangkok National Museum from 9am to 4pm from Wednesday to Sunday (except national holidays). Fees are 30 baht for Thais and 200 baht for foreigners. :banghead:
