Lol! That bit about the Premiership was especially for you and I knew you wouldn't be able to resist it! :P

I didn't see the Ronaldo dive as I had only turned it on just before the Henry dive BUT..... Ronaldo didn't get a penalty did he? Henry must be an even better cheat than Ronaldo then, eh?... :thumb:

Christiano (the Cheat) Ronaldo is still only a lad - how good will he cheat when he gets as old as Henry?

Henry would have probably got both Rooney and Beckham sent off!

Ah well, cheating obviously pays! Henry now certainly has a credibility problem after his sanctimonious post champions league final comments. But France and Italy it is then...ZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I was really dismayed to see the antics of the Portugese this evening. I'm also glad Scolari is staying there. This is orchestrated cheating, that comes from the top. Sadly for them, they fell short of the high standards they have maintained in an area they otherwise excel in.

Some of their attempts at cheating were so blatantly obvious and exposed by the cameras focusing in on their efforts that some sort of warning must surely come from FIFA. The referee was leniant too!

Did they really not understand the way the worlds media works?

The sad thing is, it just undermines the talents they have in their side, its even sadder that some of the most talented are the worst culprits.

Without doubt, Henry went OTT, but there is little doubt it was a penalty.

Maybe a turning point in football, as the pressure will build for FIFA to act.

Come on, it was hilarious! The Portuguese have been going down like fairy elephants throughout the competition though, as you say.

Hell who's bitter, look on the bright side... we got rid of Beckham as captain. Long overdue imo, now give the arm band to Terry. :)

I see the Rooney/Ronaldo episode has been brought to a satifactory conclusion. Unfortunately, its a bit gory for a public forum. If anybody is actually interested in Ronaldo's demise, send me a PM, and I'll return the link.

Don't ask, if you don't like gore!

The team I support in the domestic league is Plymouth Argyle. When you support a team like Plymouth, you are always hopeful, but very conditioned to failure.

Same with England - just take it 4 years at a time.

Getting back on thread, I've just heard on the radio that there is a boxing promoter offering to let Ronaldo and Rooney settle their differences in the ring. Rooney is reported as saying he's up for it.

You this that this is going to change anything? I think not.

No matter who the captain is, the coach is still lame.

Crikey, you're not giving him much of a chance are you. I reckon he'll fail but lets least give him enough rope :)

I reckon we need a strong personality like terry or gerrard to lead the team, by words & deeds. Beckham didn't talk much, just relied on his play to do the talking for him... which wasn't often :| But then Bobby Moore wasn't a shouter by all accounts...

As a West Ham fan I am offended that you even write Beckham's name in the same sentence as the greatest England captain ever! :guns:
Beckham was the media-friendly and Sven favourite captain, and should not only have lost the captaincy but also his place in the team on some occasions in my opinion. Having said that, what he lacked in his overall game (pace and dribbling ability mainly which are a huge drawback for someone playing in a wingers position) he made up for in his work rate and exceptional set piece ability. Loyalty is an admirable thing but SGE showed far too much of it to a number of players during his reign, thus preventing several other players getting their England chance. Everything SGE said about players needing to be playing regularly at the top level to play for England was obviously rubbish because of his inclusion of Walcott in his final squad, and must have really cheesed off a number of players such as Defoe, Bent and Beattie. I hope McLaren is neither as blindly loyal nor favours players from particular teams but I am not optimistic. Hopefully he will surprise all of us...

He was picked by the FA for exaclty the same reasons that RM bought him for (and are willing to extend his contract for), MONEY... he is a huge asset to any team when it comes to putting bums on seats... his marketing value far outweigs his usefulness on the pitch & has done so for years. Image
