Soi Selakam
Re: Soi Selakam
The LoS is awash with laws and regulations, and there is a culture of only abiding by those that matter or can be used as a source of revenue.
The tuk tuk drivers would probably quite like to have Poonsuk to themselves, so if the regulation was passed and a barrier provided, they'd probably manage the barrier themselves..

I may be drunk, Miss, but in the morning I shall be sober and you will still be ugly...

All roads must be open to traffic.
Re: Soi Selakam
Bintabaht is closed in the evenings, so why shouldn't there be restrictions on Poonsuk? All roads must be open to traffic

Re: Soi Selakam
Yes all roads must be open to traffic incl. Binta. This restriction didn't bring more income to bars.
Poonsuk is a transit Rd. between Damnernkasem (soi 61) and Dechanichit (soi 57), it's one way, so your question is nonsense.
Re: Soi Selakam
Was that it's purpose? I know this is Thailand, but I actually thought it was to make it safer for pedestrians. I don't go down Binthabat very often, but I can honestly say say, before pedestrianisation, I've seen more motor accidents in that small road than anywhere else in Thailand.europtimiste wrote: ↑Fri Sep 28, 2018 9:59 am Yes all roads must be open to traffic incl. [Edit] As this thread is about Soi Selakam, I have never seen an accident in that Soi.

Not surprised. Big Boy, but the brain is not proportional.Big Boy wrote: ↑Fri Sep 28, 2018 11:57 amWas that it's purpose? Most of us are here, because they were fed up with the laws and regulations of their countries and now a certain number of farangs want to introduce their regulations in this country. Binta area, soi Binta as well Selakam and the no name soi with Panama etc. are a nightlife area and most of us doesn't want to create a desert. Bikes as well sellers should be allowed to drive around.

Re: Soi Selakam
This is related to your comment and I replied to this nonsense.
Re: Soi Selakam
I can assure you that I have seen more accidents over the years on Soi Binthabat than anywhere else in Thailand. My Thai time spans back to the 80's on and off.
Every one of the accidents involved motorcycles, and a few of the accidents involved young kiddies as well. I don't have to make such stories up.

Seen, as in, 'with my own eyes'. I am not saying it is the most dangerous road in Thailand. I am saying that I, personally, have seen more accidents on that small stretch than anywhere else in Thailand, which is why I assumed the creation of a walking street was for safety purposes.

Re: Soi Selakam
And to make it more agreeable for tourists. The notion that banning bikes had adversely affected trade is nonsense on stilts - how many bar customers arrived on a bike and parked it in the soi? - 1% tops. Almost all the bikes belonged to staff.which is why I assumed the creation of a walking street was for safety purposes
What are the forum rules with regard to europtimiste 's gratuitous abuse?
