Popular Music - Our Favourites
Hello music fans,
felt I had to start a thread for oldies AND new releases.
Liked this little piece from the time I first heard it.

Re: Music - Your Favourites
For music to be really good it has to pass the test of time. Songs of Gershwin, Porter, Kern, Mercer, Berlin, etc. are still often being played 80 years on. I wonder how much of the music of the last 50 years will still be around in 2150.

Re: Music - Your Favourites
Dear Harry,
you are right, of course.
But a lot of good stuff gets ignored for a lot of reasons:
e.g. lack of sponsors & promotion.
A catchy tune & rhythm should be helpful to make a song
an evergreen. Take the 'Charleston' for example.
Of course, I shall come to Cole Porter and his ilk at some time.
Often you will discover such a gem in the musical soundtrack of a movie.
Quentin Tarantino is one of these film directing discoverers.
Every 4 or 5 years I happen to enter a communicative period.
Not sure why anyone should be interested in my favourites alone.
So everyone is encouraged to join in!
Have a great week everyone!

my favorite is Pink Floyd playing Comfortably Numb Live at London's Earls Court 1994 with one off the best guitar solos IMHO
I saw them 2 times in Portugal and 1 time in Copenhagen, absolutly fantastic

Re: Music - Your Favourites
Good morning!
Dear bsdk1960,
happy to welcome you as the first contributor other than myself.
It's difficult to name a single top favourite with so many great pieces of
music to choose from.
So everyone is invited to share any number of favourites, but since your choice
seems to be your top favourite, I have to follow up with mine!
Have a nice day!
Warm regards,
MB aka 'Mike the Fritz'

Dear Administrators,
would it perhaps be possible to change the title of this thread to a more precise "Popular Music - Our Favourites"?
Thanks!

Dear Forum members,
due to a lack of originally envisaged general interest & participation
(& the criticism thereof) I have decided to abandon my thread.

P.S. A perfect example of how by stifling new threads one (administrators/moderators) discourages forum mermbers from opening new threads!

Can you clarify please? I believe all administrators/moderators have been nothing but helpful to you.MajorBloodnok wrote:P.S. A perfect example of how by stifling new threads one (administrators/moderators) discourages forum mermbers from opening new threads!

Re: Popular Music - Our Favourites
Part of the problem with this thread is that there is already a long running and successful music thread, which to a degree, this duplicates.
Talk is cheap

Good morning everyone!
Dear BigBoy,
my critical comment was NOT a general criticism of all this forum's
administrators and moderators!
It was only referring to the topic of starting new threads, this one in
particular.
I may be a bit touchy sometimes and I did not name anyone specific
as life is too short to waste time on starting a war with one of the
forum's alpha males.
It was probably a daft idea to start this thread.
IT WAS NEVER INTENDED TO BE EGOCENTRIC OR EGOTISTICAL!
SUBJECT CLOSED!
