There must be something wrong with my account then as it is applied to absolutely everything I try to order on Laz. Here is an example ...

Just looked at your guitar strings and it now states 45 baht! It does point out that it's free when you spend more.

Looked at several other random products many that are marked 'free' indeed show normal delivery - free and there are others that have the green 'free' but on total cost there's a price restriction on free.
I couldn't find any that state 'free' that were not free on the total cost although some with a minimum spend.

'Free' on the product just indicates there is an option for free delivery. I had to look at the last few invoices as you'd made me doubt my own eyes. The ones that had delivery credited in the total had multiple items on the order.

I do surprise myself what I'll do when I'm bored!!!!

Any idea what has happened to the shipping charges? Even the ones that say 'free shipping' now have a shipping charge added when you go to order.

Just tried it with five different things to test and they all wanted to charge a flat 53 baht for shipping no matter whether it was a pack of chili seeds costing 40 baht or a power drill!
For me too this has been happening on almost every Lazada order for a long time. Do some people shop and spend their money without checking their sums and receipts? Not only the free shipping promotions but also the standard shipping fee shown on product page often gets changed at check-out. Somtimes, immediately after I buy, the product page price becomes updated. As if my purchase triggers that. It is small so i pay and say nothing. But it happens too many times so about 3 months ago i chatted to customer service – their reply = “Delivery charges are set by the seller” my rebuttal = “But we are not talking about the delivery price - we are talking about the delivery cost on the check-out page does not reflect the delivery price shown in the product description page”

Several more Lazada orders = same problem. Then order on 1st April = not only was the free shipping promotion ignored but the normal delivery fee shown as ฿53 got a rejig at checkout to become ฿64. Not eager to be April Fooled so chatted seller = he confirmed “Buy products 399 ฿ No shipping cost, please try again”

No cigar — so, as customer service chat asks for an order number I completed the order = moved it from “Cart” to “Pay Now” and “Check Out” to get an order # then immediately cancelled the order.

My opening chat note to customer service listed all facts including order number, that my delivery address was shown correctly on product page, that I had confirmed with seller the delivery is free, etc. They obviously did not read it because every question they asked me had already been been covered on my opening message.

Their solution for me = “Please be advise that free shipping promotion with minimum spend ฿399.00 is only availabnle in certain area. Please contact the seller directly and confirm if your shipping address is applicable for the free shipping fee” Then the chat page was immediately closed without the 30 seconds time frame for a reply from me. And without addressing the fact that even the standard delivery fee was morphed at check-out.

It appears that ‘Customer Service’ is a PR department, not a solution department. But when you do one of these chats you will gat an email with a satisfaction survey and space for a comment. Hopefully it has more relevance than the Customer Service chats.

I thanked them for their concern, briefly restated some of my chat message and finished with, “I believe your website engineers need to know about these shipping fee problems. I realize shipping costs are going up but product page and checkout page need to be same same… It is important because accuracy and validity are painted with the same brush

Anyway, this is usually a small matter but its frequency is aggravating. Hopefully more people will bring this up with them. Check JD Central first = no delivery fees and often is cheaper. Sjoppee = often cheaper, small or zero delivery fees but serious language barrier and serious problems about returns if wrong or damaged product is sent. Ali Express = very accurate highly descriptive web site but longer shipping times.

There are some good reasons to shop at Lazada but as they become more complete in cornering the market they will also become less sensitive to your concerns. Keep Hua Hin businesses alive by also shopping locally. 2 weeks ago we wanted a back pack sprayer. 2 exactly identical ones at Lazada were ฿1124 and ฿697 +delivery +”Ships From Overseas”. We checked Home Pro and bought exact same model for ฿620 and able to see what we were getting. Ditto for a low end Canon printer we recently bought at Power Buy.

:agree: I've seen that poster plastered all over Facebook, and wondered if the people sharing it really knew or had thought about what they were asking for.

Exactly, everything is made in China and this country is practically another province of China so its impossible to avoid. I'd love to buy stuff from elsewhere but its considerably more expensive and shipping costs are tripled.

Shopping locally is not an option for me as I don't live in Hua Hin - additionally there is usually a "Hua Hin markup" on pretty much everything sold there.

I will be trying to avoid Lazada in the future and its sneaky shipping surcharges. JD will be my first choice (also China though), have used it before.

What they are asking for is that China acts as a responsible member of the nations of the world. There are plenty examples of their disgraceful conduct to choose from. For those in doubt - human rights, treatment of ethnic minorities, poaching of endangered animal species, intellectual property theft, building military bases in disputed islands, damming the Mekong. Oh and there is the problem the coved pandemic.

No, they are not saying that. They are saying, "No to Made in China." That statement is nigh on impossible without the majority of households not suffering in one way or another.

I am sat in my armchair and a quick look around the room, I'd guess the following have components Made in China. Smart phone, mouse, standard lamp, wi-fi router, air conditioning, emergency lighting, TV, laptop, android box, fan. I'm sure there would be more. Of course, the entire units may not be advertised as Made in China, but they will all have components that were.

Yes, we all know about human rights, treatment of ethnic minorities, poaching of endangered animal species, intellectual property theft, building military bases in disputed islands, damming the Mekong, but that is not what is being said. Can you honestly say you have nothing in your household that originated in China?

We are all guilty of it, whether we like it or not. A bit like vegetarians wearing leather shoes.

Producing a poster saying, "No to Made in China," is useless Facebook hype, and I for one simply write it off as more Facebook crap.

Firstly, my family must be buying from a different Lazada to posters here. We haven't bought from them for the last 10 - 14 days due to the current situation but until then I can't find one instance of a delivery charge except when it's understood. Even those charges were often negated due to multiple orders.
I will certainly keep a close eye on any future purchases.

Regarding 'No to made in China'. It would take years, even if possible, for countries to become independent of China. Take the US for example. They rely heavily on China, more so than China relies on them. I'm afraid we're stuck with Chinese products for the foreseeable future!
US Needs China More Than China Needs the US
The U.S. depends heavily on China for providing the low-cost goods that enable income-constrained American consumers to make ends meet. The U.S. also depends on China to support its own exports; next to Mexico and Canada, China is America’s third largest and by far its most rapidly growing major export market.

And, of course, the U.S. depends on China to provide funding for its budget deficits. It is the largest foreign holder of U.S. Treasury securities – some $1.3 trillion in direct ownership and at least another $250 billion of quasi-government paper. A lack of Chinese buying could turn the next Treasury auction into a rout.
President Donald Trump continues to single out China as the villain in the great American tragedy, when in fact he should take a careful look in the mirror.

First of all, he continues to insist that the U.S.-China trade deficit is $500 billion, fully one-third larger than the actual figure of $375 billion published by the Commerce Department.

I've said it several times. When there is a delivery charge, it's usually negated on the invoice. Heres an order we submitted in the last hour.

Subtotal: THB 507.00
Shipping fee: THB 53.00
Discount: THB (53.00)
Total (VAT included):
THB
507.00

Delivery Type: STANDARD
Payment Method: Cash On Delivery

As said, we must be using a different Lazada!!!

You are both right guys. Yes, most things have a shipping fee, and yes, many (not all) will discount at the checkout if the free delivery conditions are fulfilled - often buying multiple quantities.

I've also encountered the 20 Baht shipping fee, which when you get to checkout becomes 45 or 53 Baht. You go backwards, and it only shows the new fee. I thought I was going crazy in the beginning, but I watched carefully, and it happens. Of course, the 20 Baht scam makes the product look more attractive initially.

So buksi, are you going to share?
