Which tourists are they aiming at? Town is usually dead in the week leading up to Songkran, and is officially pronounced deceased immediately afterwards. IMHO I think it is unlikely to draw additional crowds of the ilk that spend money, just extend the days existing people throw water at each other.

OK, I'm old and grumpy now, but one day is plenty for me - I'll just stay in and spend less money at home for a few days.

I'm with BB on this, and am staying indoors for the duration. Songkran used to be a nice, polite Northern custom until revellers and holidaymakers started the mayhem.

They used to put flower petals and jasmine essence in the water, and used a small silver cup to pour water through cupped hands, not iced water with chunks of ice still in it, slung out of a 55 gallon drum in the back of a pickup by inebriated revellers..
But I digress.. (Yes, I'm a grumpy old fart to boot)

I assume May 29 is an accurate date for Visakha Bucha day, and it will be a bar closed day. Pete

A reminder that tomorrow, Monday, is a government holiday. Immigration and other offices closed, as well as other places that will simply take the day off. Below is the colour key for the holiday chart I use when posting on this thread. Pete

Thanks, Pete. I was fully intending going to Imm for my 90 day report tomorrow. You've saved me the journey.
