McDonalds now in Market Village...

Post by Super Joe »

...fitting out the units that were Mix'n'Match and Haagan Daas as we speak.

No more waiting 12 minutes for me Big Mac meals after waking up

It's a great day for real junk food lovers.

Haha!

No need to put the GF off going to Tesco really early anymore, "we'll go at 12ish, just let me relax for an hour or 2" will now be "hurry up before they stop doing the McMuffins and Hashbrowns"

Where they putting it? Mix n match doesn't ring a bell.

Got ya. Can picture the Haagen Daas now. What was mix n match then?

I go MV twice a week but always went straight in the door near the Tesco until the side extension.

It's a sad thing...McD's in MV.....why are people eating western food all the time in HH? You may as well be anywhere in the world...for example a shopping mall in Bradford..air con plus McD's...you name it. :(
Mix and mactch was western enough, but at least they did serve Thai food as well as western. Anyway, you have it all now...McD's on the fround floor, travel on up for KFC on the top...sample other loads of rubbish in between. Is this why people come to Thailand? Not for me :tsk:

And so it begins. There is always one isn't there?

You want Thai you are welcome to go and eat Thai. Do you think the tens of thousands of Thais in England eat a full English for Breakfast, Fish and Chips for Dinner and a Roast Dinner in the evening? No!

They go to Thai shops or Chinatowns and buy what they want.

My THAI girlfriend eats McDonald's, BurgerKing, Pizza....whatever.

Boils my piss this, go eat your motorbike exhaust fumed bugs for the full Thai experience.

"Seen him there with a burger, no idea about Thailand" says the fisherman pant moron about the guy who's lived there for 30 years.

Well, yes, sort of... but let's face it, this thread was pretty much asking for it!

Having said that, after 9 years here I enjoy European food more than ever before.

Not that I'd include MacD's in that category!

The time for Thaifoodies to start worrying is when the food stalls stop serving Thai food and the Binterburger starts appearing all round town.

I enjoy Thai food I just despise boiled rice. I'm proud to say in my recent month visit I didn't touch 1 grain of rice.

I love my 30 baht Ba me moo Dang but I also love my steaks I cook at home. Missus usually does a Suki at home but I'm not a fan of Mushrooms.

Pad Grapaow Cottage Pie anyone?

Let's face it; with the increased flow of wealthy Bangkokians into Hua Hin, HH is becoming more and more --well, what's the expression -- internationalized - westernized - americanized? The old yellow flying seagull near the post office has been a sad sight for years and the location isn't exactly attractive. So from a business point of view I understand the flying seagull people.
But from my own point of view I can easily do without the Bic Mac and its siblings. I'm happy there is still a number of Thai food stalls along Petkasem that serve healthy and inexpensive Thai food.

Well they don't make their money throughout asia from westerners do they? Siani, I'm not actually sure if you were being tongue-in-cheek?

But whether anyone likes it or not, MacDonalds and the like have been around in asia for 30+ years, its nowt new. I have to be honest and say when in HK, Singapore, Bkk and other places on room only deals, its been handy for brekky. I just cannot do asian for brekky.

I entirely agree. I eat Thai food regularly as long as it's not too spicy, but I've simply got bored with it. In Hua Hin, as in most large western towns and cities, there is a wide range of cuisines available: Thai, Italian, Indian, Swedish, German, French, Swiss, etc., etc.
In addition to the restaurants, Mrs D-M often cooks pasta dishes, Brit roast dinners, steak/salads, cottage pie, etc.
I'm not for one moment flying the MacDonalds flag, just saying that it doesn't scare me.

There's nothing wrong with a wide range of options to choose from.

And I agree with caller - I could never eat Thai for breakfast!

Im beginning to wonder if I'm a bit strange - but Asian for brekky is brill IMO. A nice big bowl of rice soup with a Heinie is my first priority on arrival in Bangers. Or if it's very early morning several black coffees with those lovely deep fried pastry nibbles at the scruffy place across from HuaLamphong is heaven.
I agree with Siani about MacD's. OK they may well have been around for 30 years now - 30 years too long IMO. Over priced and over hyped fast food. But they must be doing something right to have survived this long - along with BurgerKing and KFC.
Come the glorious day when the Big M bosses realise that some people don't want automatic dill pickle then maybe - just maybe - I might give them another chance. Until then I can produce much better burgers at home, for much less cost.

It will be good to be able to get a good coffee early in the morning. I hope that like the other branch they will be open if not 24h/day at 8 am.
Their b'fasts are good and not too bad nutritionally-- Egg Mcmuffin or Sausage McM and coffee, less than 100b.

I can honestly say that you could count the times I have been in McDonalds on the digits of my two hands, but have to admit that the last time which would have been about 2006 in Manila and it was actually in the Mcafe part of the restaurant and the coffee was one of the best I have ever had anywhere in the world. Not a fan of their burgers or fries, but each to themselves.
