Locations that serve a "good" Amercian / English breakfast.

Compared with what was served to me last week in Samut Songkhram as a 'Farang Breakfast' it was absolutely marvellous. We mustn't forget that we are very lucky in Hua Hin when it comes to available food.

There's another place I know which I know of that advertises fish and chips with 2 large pieces of fish.

If you're talking about Zebwer, then it's true. You do get 2 good sized pieces of cod. Had it several times.

Zebwar is exceptional - been there dozens of times, nicely out of the way so you can get a minutes piece as well, eat very good quality food and the staff are nice. Absolutely guaranteed you will get people complaining about the prices (I think about 400 baht for the TWO cod and chips) but you really do get what you pay for. Highly recommended in my opinion

Careful pulling out of their at night - the road is as black as your hat and already a couple of fatalities.

I finally got around to having the breakfast at the Hua Hin Fishing Lodge.

I had the small version, the large is obviously just more of the same ingredients.

Unfortunately I shan't be going again!
I thought it was very average,

The best part was the bacon which was very nice to be fair. But the rest of the ingredients were either average or poor. The baked beans were literally the worst beans I've had anywhere in the world, completely tasteless rubbish! They were neither Heinz nor Makro. I don't know what they were, some sort of cheap supermarket version. Even the cutlery was cheap and nasty something I think is very telling in a restaurant's offering.

However some may find it a beautiful place to sit, didn't really inspire me either way. The place could desperately do with a refurb in truth! But handy if you're fishing there and hungry.

Anyway all in all for the price( 169 baht, tea/coffee but no juice for the small version )then it's certainly not comparable to Nits on soi 102 at 180 baht, in either quantity or quality. I naturally use Nit's as a benchmark as I've yet to find a better English brekkie in HH.

Incidentally talking of baked beans, Nits beans are the weakest part of an otherwise excellent breakfast(Makro I think). The best beans I've had were at Nany's (proper Heinz I'm sure) but she no longer offers cooked food. The beans at 99 cafe are rubbish too which is a pity as the rest of the breakfast is quite good.

Nothing to do with breakfast but I find that attaching photos in tapatalk is very easy as it automatically resizes to the allowable limit (unless that’s something my phone does)?

As I keep saying, "Everybody's taste buds are different." I'm not a regular visitor, but it is somewhere I go when I feel like treating myself. I will have to visit again, just to see for myself how the best has become, "very average."

I've been a Heinz beans fan all my life. I never thought that there'd be anything better.
Until the last year or so. Branston's beans are far far better than Heinz. They have topped Heinz in popularity for some time now.
If you've never tried them, please do.

As for breakfast at The Fishing Lodge, until now every review I've read is very positive. I'm pretty sure that this is the first negative I've seen for their breakfast over the years.

As BB says, personal taste differs.

I personally wouldn't use Heinz beans as a benchmark in quality. Too much runny sauce and not enough beans. I far preferred Sainsbury's or Waitrose own brand. I was informed by a knowledgeable member here, himself in the trade, that some supermarket beans were produced by Cross & Blackwell - remember them - that used to be widely available and are also behind Branston beans, which I too think are really good. Here, I also like Brooks from Oz, and Talley's from NZ.

LOL - I must admit my taste buds have gone native regarding beans. 11 years ago I hated them, but these days my favourites are Ayam Brand

I was brought up on HP baked beans. Nany used ti stock them but I've not seen them there for a few months. Branson (which I do like) are the cheapest there (about 69 Baht) and Heinz (which are a little sweet for me) cost around 120 Baht. The most common baked beans in Thailand (and used in many breakfasts) are Ayam which I do not particularly like.
