Re- Flying on Emirate airlines

Post by Irish Kev »

Has anyone flown into Bangkok using Emirates.

My wife and I normally fly Thai airlines between Sydney & Bangkok but Emirates have specials on at the moment which are quire substantially cheaper the Thai.

Also this time we will be flying with our 7 month old baby, how are Emirates in regards to looking after babies.

Yes. Quite a few years now since I flew Emirates from Manchester to Bangkok, but it still sticks as the best. Just wish they were available from my local airport 'up North' here.
Having said that most airlines have cut costs, and don't provide the freebies they used to. China for one.
I can't answer your question on baby facilities from personal experience, but certainly Emirates used to have good space with shelves on bulkheads for babies in front of the regular seats. Check whether you need to book certain seats in advance. But most airlines are well aware of the need to provide for babies and young children on long haul especially. It shouldn't be a problem. And if all else fails a good dose of Calpol should help

I fly with Emirates on business virtually every week. Excellent airline and I am sure they will welcome littl'un on board, and will have supplies like nappies etc. in case you run out.

I've used Emirate a few times between Europe and Bangkok and have always found them to be very good for passenger service.
Many of these Middle Eastern airlines have had large amounts of oil money thrown at them and haven't had to penny-pinch as much as the rest of the industry.

all the Years we fly Thai and Singapore, this Year first time we Tried Emirates.

When i compare Emirates with Thai:

Emirates Plus:

- Cheaper
- Modern Aircraft 777/A380
- Excellent entertainment System
- Excellent Food

Thais Plus:

- Nonstop Flight /Nightflight Arrive BKK in the morning or noon
- Better Bevarage Service than Emirates
- a bit more Space between Seats (i think so) but Seats are older

but when i have a different between these Airlines, and Emirates is for 2 Person 450 Euros* cheaper, then i use Emirates.

* Euro is the Currency used in Europa (Continent) :-) We don´t use half kilo.

I've always found Emirates to be one of the best airlines I've flown with - no complaints whatsoever.

Normally I fly direct with either Eva or Thai but last time decided to try Emirates.

I found the journey slightly better with Emirates as breaking the journey in Dubai seemed better than doing it all in one long go.

Probably will be tempted back to Thai because they are a member of Star Alliance but will be using Emirates again as well.

I have only flown Emirates once & Thai (from Auckland) once. I live in Christchurch so the Emirates flight is from my local airport, which is good, then stopover in Sydney. I like the airline & will be flying Emirates again this December.
On my last flight though we were delayed for 1 hour in Chch due to an airbridge problem & then had another 1 hour delay in Sydney. I don't think this is typical though, but just giving you a heads up as in planning for what to do with the wee one if you're stuck hanging round Kingsford Smith. It was pretty busy during that stopover & I couldn't find anywhere to sit. Hopefully though someone would give up their seat to a mother & baby.
I think the seats are slightly larger on Thai. This site will give you some more info.

That's the key if travelling with a little'un.

I'm currently trying to find a good price for a mate but the cheap ones are all very long wait overs, not good with an 18 month old.

Thank god I generally travel alone. Image

Flew Emirates every 2-4 months from Kuwait-Dubai-Bangkok and back for about two years, Business Class.
Good service, good prices.
Switched to Emirates from Thai Air because of some crazy travel rule that the company I was working for had.
But, shortly after that Thai Air really pissed me off when I went to redeem airmiles for three nights in a hotel in Bangkok. What they wanted and the procedure was a joke.
Paid for the hotel myself, cut up my Thai Air card and haven't flown with them since.

The only thing I didn't care for was...
Scrrr (that's the intercom coming on)...."Hello passangers and welcome aboard....this is your captain Mohammed Atta speaking......and our co-pilot on this flight is Bookrah Inshallah....."
