No idea mate, but like everything in Thailand the left hand does one thing while the right hand does another - it may only apply at certain airports.

Incoming flights (with passengers) now stopped til April 18th.

apart from stopping any Thais from getting back, it will presumably, greatly reduce the no of flights out of the country.

Latest update from British embassy 7 hours ago. KLM, Lufthansa, Emirates and a few others still flying out. The news above about no passengers inbound may cause a problem.

Over 200 seats available on eva air, today and Sunday to return to UK.

Qatar fairly full to Doha but lots of seats from Doha to Manchester or london.

Lufthansa has seats. KLM has seats. (Change in Frankfurt or Amsterdam).

I am struggling to see why there are reports of people unable to fly.

I think they may be able to fly, but prefer to stay here especially since the visa extension has been initiated. If you have no family or other obligations back in the homeland, the virus numbers here are looking better than there at the moment.

Most of the posts seem to be about flying OUT rather than flying IN. I have a friend in China trying to get to his house on Ko Sumai which is almost impossible.

Thailand extends airspace shut down until the end of April; up to 5,000 Thais stuck abroad
Thailand’s Civil Aviation Authority on Wednesday extended its shutdown of Thai Airspace until the end of April, documents from the body show.

The CAAT ban on incoming flights was due to expire on the 18th of April. Now the new order sees the ban extended until 11:59 pm on the 30th of April.

Under the now-extended order, all commercial flights flying into the country will be banned to help stop the spread of coronavirus. Outbound flights and emergency repatriation flights by foreign countries will still be able to continue.

Exempt from the ban will be emergency landings, state or military aircraft, or humanitarian flights.

Many Thais that were affected by the original ban and were left stranded abroad by the original order will feel aggrieved as they will be unable to return to the country until the order is lifted.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that many as 5,000 Thais were waiting to return home but were unable due to the ban. The government said it would provide financial assistance to Thais stuck abroad and unable to pay their way yet no concrete steps have been taken after the announcement.

My step-daughter is stuck in the states. However, she was able to extend her visa by 240 days online. (It's not Thailand). She's at a farm miles into the countryside in Texas so she's quite enjoying life. However, there are thousands of Thais who aren't so lucky.

Closing Thai airspace is the single measure that has contained the virus here. Almost all cases to date have been imported or due to contact with previously confirmed cases. There is virtually no evidence of contagion outside of those parameters. Of course the government will claim that banning alcohol, social distancing, hand hygiene and above all, wearing masks has led to the low infection rate. Apart from wearing masks, other measures have been widely ignored and we all know the effectiveness of wearing masks.

IF figures are to be believed, and until there is evidence to the contrary, we have to take them at face value, then IMO this lock down, jeopardizing peoples livelihoods and general well being is utter nonsense. By maintaining the restriction/closure of airspace and relaxing the domestic measures would have little effect on the currently low numbers of infection.

Still flights out every day. Lots of space.
Eva (200 hundred seats free on Friday) , Lufthansa, KLM, Qatar (200 seats free tomorrow), Korean air. Obviously, only Eva is direct.

Have to admit, it seems more.pleasant to be here on lockdown than in the UK on lockdown.

Some Airlines are starting to fly back to Bangkok from London next week. Does anyone here know what the situation is with regard to Quarantine of arriving people from UK. Are they quarantined at all; are they quarantined in a hotel; are they allowed to self quarantine at their home. Any info would be gratefully received. Thank you.

Sorry Blot, but with the exception of repatriation flights, this doesn't appear to tally with the front page story from the Bangkok Post this morning which mentions 15th May at the earliest:
