Centrum Silver (50+ Men) are 1,330 for 250 tabs from Lazada. Don't know how that compares with ordering Iherb direct from the states plus shipping etc.

Just like you, Pete, I was surprised at the initial boost I got from multivitamins. Consequently, I've taken them religiously for quite a while now.

The problem i have with Centrum is that they don't tell you the source of the nutrients. If the minerals are sourced from oxides, those are ground-up rocks. For Beta systosterol to be effect it must be 85-95% fatty acid sterols. It doesn't state whether or not the Vits. A & E are natural or synthetic. If they are synthetic you absorb about 50% of what you're taking. Of course if none of this matters to you, so be it.

The majority of Centrum® vitamins are derived from synthetic source ingredients. Vitamin and mineral supplements can be "synthetic," derived through chemical processes or "natural," derived directly from plants or other materials. There is no evidence that the body absorbs vitamins and minerals derived from natural sources more effectively than synthetic vitamins and minerals. In fact, the synthetic form of folate, known as folic acid, is actually better absorbed by the body than its natural counterpart.

Can anyone compare prices shipping from iHerb? I want some more milk thistle and these are well priced for a years supply (half of what they cost here) ...

https://th.iherb.com/pr/California-Gold ... ules/90185

Clearly if its going to cost the same again to ship them here and take over a month its not worth the effort.

My last two orders below. You can see I try to keep it under 1,500 Baht. By the way, that will change next year when the Gov here starts charging VAT on everything coming in from electronic purchases regardless of price.

You can see the difference in shipping costs between the two choices. The "Local Post Plus" came via DHL to our local post office, then EMS delivery to the house. If was actually routed through Germany rather than over the Pacific. Much faster than the "Local Post" option, which if I recall correctly came Post Office the entire way and took weeks, and was routed over the Pacific through HK and China.

Local Post

Subtotal $30.23
Loyalty Credit: $0.00
Shipping: $4.27
Duties, Taxes, & Fees $0.00
Rewards Credit $0.00
Order Total $34.50

Local Post Plus

Subtotal $31.57
Shipping: $11.26
Rewards Credit $0.00
Order Total $42.83

I'll endorse this last statement.
I've been taking one Blackmores Bio Zinc tablet a day for about two months; there is an increase in 'volume'; I thought it was just 'talk'.
Other aspects are positive; not sure to what extent; extra volume is certainly good for an aging ego.

My supply of Suisse multivitamin was finished, so I opted for Centrum Silver 50+.
One thing I like about Centrum is that the tablet is smaller and can be easily swallowed, whereas the larger Suisse tablet (for me) needed to broken in half and still got stuck in my throat some days.

Google: natural vs. synthetic vitamin absorption. We're talking about bioavailability.

It is also worth checking out the form a mineral takes itself in a supplement as some forms of a mineral are more easy for your body to absorb than others (bioavailability). For example, zinc oxide is not well absorbed but chelated zinc is or magnesium chloride is far more well absorbed than magnesium oxide ... so it's a good thing to see what form the mineral is in. Obviously though, you pay for what you get.
