Thanks, BB. Didn't realise it was an extra bank holiday. I wondered why the kids weren't at school.

Any excuse by the banks. My UK state pension doesn't arrive on time if there's a holiday in UK, Thailand or USA on or about the scheduled day. I'm sure it's the same for others here. Today being a holiday, exceptionally, is just an added bonus.

The UK state pension is paid early if the due date is a holiday. Usually the working day before the due date. For example, my state pension is always paid on Monday but if that's a holiday, then it's paid on the previous Friday or before.

We're drifting here, but do you guys get paid on the same date every month? Mrs BB's is paid something like every 4 weeks, but rarely the same day. Hers is paid directly into her Thai bank.

My UK state pension is paid every Monday with the only exception it being a public holiday and then it's paid early as I've said.

That's weekly but I'm sure the logistics are different for monthly which I believe is every 28 days.

Mine's paid every 4 weeks on a Friday. If there's a holiday it's paid on the next working day, usually the following Monday, but it has been the following Tuesday at times. It has never been paid early, not even at Christmas. If it's in the same week as Thanksgiving, or other American holiday, then it will be the following Monday.

Initially when Monday was a public holiday, I received double the previous Monday. If Christmas day was a Monday then I got triple on the 18th as New Years day was also a Monday. Happy days! Now, though it's usually paid on the previous Thursday but the rules say it could be paid on the previous Friday.

It's never been paid late!

Sort of relevant for those using TW. Almost without exception, GBP climbs against THB immediately following making a transfer. This month was no exception. Having already made a transfer, the rate for GBP is closing on 42 baht!

I've had good luck with "Wise" over the past year or so. Yesterday morning I transferred a few bucks from a Wise balance to Bangkok Bank. Well, I thought I did. Today, the "Wise" site still says:'
Your money's taking longer to pay out
Sorry for the wait — we need a bit more time to process your transfer....
I wrote customer support yesterday. They responded right away saying it would take two or three days to find out what went wrong.

I wonder if this has something to do with the US Federal Reserve's electronic transfer problems:

The Fed’s system that allows banks to send money back and forth went down for several hours

Suddenly, I'm not so happy with "Wise".
