Sweet Peppers Restaurant

Located at the Mongkol Golf Driving Range on Hnong Plub Road. It has a delightful evening setting and the Thai and International menu is great value and you will not be disappointed with the price. PET

Two "advertisements" this week for Mongkol........isn't that supposed to be against the rules?

Yep, and everyone on this forum who lives here knows that, so it (and all similar postings) is probably counter-productive!

It wasn't even subtle...

Hi TIGR,

Don't think there is anything wrong with letting everyone know about a good place to go. Try it the food is great, good crack for golfers. Owners are good friends of mine and i have no problem letting anyone know this.

I’ll second that, it is good food and anyone who was a regular of the original Roadhole will feel at home.

Okay, a couple of minutes to think about this.

And I'm quite ready to admit that mine was a rather knee-jerk reaction to TIGR's posting.

But that's because the OP's post sounded like something you might see in an airline magazine!

I see a lot of people told off (in no uncertain terms) for advertising businesses without being sponsors.

Now I've seen JW's post and am, quite naturally, thinking to myself that he makes an exceedingly fair point.

So where's the line?

Help...

Maybe a declaration of interest would help? A posting from a newbie proclaiming such and such bar or restaurant to be the dog's bollocks will always be assumed to be an advert from the owner. I don't see anything wrong (though the mods may) if someone says something like "I've just done up my restaurant/bar and it's fantastic, why don't you come and give it a try?" Then you know it's from the owner and you make an informed choice.

And with regard to JW's comments..would you trust the views of a man who pours iced water down your neck just because you're filling your water canon from his mate's barrel?

New Restaurant

Post by canthai »

I find it silly how the mods react to any good restaurant review. I think the small bit of advertising, if that is what it is, would only reinforce the writers desire to advertise with HHAD. This section is about food and restaurants. It is a place where you can learn about the different places around Hua Hin and very helpful to the first time visitor. I believe a restaurant owners time is more valuable running the operations of the restaurant than monitoring a website for a few baht worth of so called advertising.

I am in NO way connected to the owners of Sweet Peppers or the Mongkol Golf Range and my post was not an advertisement on their behalf.

I merely visited the place a few times and was surprised at the lovely setting and consistent high quality food at very reasonable prices, and I just wanted to passs this information onto other members.

I had not seen any other posting on this.

I can also say my post was not a 'knee jerk reaction '!! PET

What is the big deal about making positive comments about a place to eat and drink - for Christs sake people should be happy as most of the comments about eating places seem to be negative.
As i stated before the owners are long time friends and i hit balls and eat there regularly.

My apologies, PET. To me (and it seems to a few others) it seemed that you were the proprietor of the restaurant, which is why I recommended the media pack. As you are in no way connected, there is no point recommending the package to you & I'll delete my post suggesting it.

As I said, welcome to HHAD & it's always nice to hear of new restaurants & services.

Just to clarify for some as our rules are pretty simple and, contrary to popular belief, there are not many of them:

1) No problem at all with any promotional or critical posts on any eating establishment (as long as its not by the owner who wants a free ride).

2) We do NOT allow links to competing websites (pretty obvious that one).

3) We do NOT allow links to real estate websites.

Clear enough?

canthai, if you have a problem with these rules or the way we run this site feel free to come to our office for a chat to air your issues.

HHAD, are you saying you allow links to dining establishments, but not to property shops? Can you confirm.
