OK - the name of the utensil is kra taah - I'll go with understudy's spelling. This had been confirmed by the missus, who did a bit of cooking in her time.
Still can't find a picture. This is driving me insane. I'm going to stick my head down the toilet and try again later :cuss:

Didn't realise that you wanted a picture. I've delved through my vast collection of holiday snaps, and found this one from last year's visit (edited to take out the people). It's not very good, but must be better than nothing.

On our trip last month we went to a couple of these restaurants.

On a trip thru Tescos at Market Sq, we saw one. The wife bought it and we've used it a few times already back here.

Bigboy's photo doesn't look like the steamboat I loved in Singapore during the late 70s.
This is a real Hong Kong/Malysia/Singapore Steamboat.
