Some of that is legitimate as EV’s in most countries are quite a bit more expensive than an ICE equivalent. Depreciation is difficult to quantify and has been changing both ways in some countries, but depreciation is variable on most conventional fossil cars - some depreciate a lot more than others. As for batteries, most of the evidence is pointing towards quite long terms, with the trend also improving so whilst a battery change would be hugely expensive, it shouldn’t be something to get over concerned about.

No doubt others will respond with more details.

Obviously with all vehicles, that's make/model & location dependent.

Initial cost ... TH ... basically the same for better value IMHO
Devaluation ... TH ... unknown, too new a market
Battery replace ... chemistry dependent, but I don't expect to replace ours in my lifetime, our my wife's.

Expect to get a minimum of 500+k kms from it, trouble free. At worst, simply replace what ever module is causing an issue, and not the whole pack.

I’ve done almost 97,000 kilometres in mine in 2.10 years and would expect it to achieve well over 600k with no battery issues if I were to keep using it (we’ve now got 2 new EV’s) on a regular basis.
I would expect that if I was in Thailand with a high ambient temperature I’d get a higher range and DC charging would be quicker than here in the UK.
Battery life would be well down my list of worries. 😉
I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.

Imagine all cars were battery powered, then along comes a new invention, the 'internal combustion engine'. Think how well they would sell without subsidy or compulsion: A vehicle 30% lighter, 30% cheaper, refuelling in 5% of the time and a range in all weathers four times greater. Plus it does not rely on rare earth elements mined by children in the Congo. They would sell like hot cakes!

If the ICE car had just been invented, there wouldn't be any fuel stations yet so range anxiety could be an issue.

BYD Shark: The electric pickup truck set to make waves in Mexico this month

"BYD, the Chinese automaker known for its electric vehicles, is set to make a global debut of its new pickup truck, the BYD Shark, in Mexico on May 14th. The BYD Shark is the company’s first electric pickup truck and is based on the DMO platform, which is BYD’s super hybrid off-road platform. The truck was initially reported to have debuted at the Beijing Auto Show, but it now seems that BYD has bolder global ambitions for the launch."

"In terms of powertrain options, the BYD Shark is expected to be available in both plug-in hybrid and pure electric versions. The vehicle is built on the DMO platform, which prioritizes electric drivetrain technology for off-road performance. The platform is capable of accommodating different engine displacements, including 1.5T and 2.0T engines"

^ China seems to be pumping an awful lot into (or shall we say through) Mexico - another way to circumvent U.S. tax/import duties/restrictions?

^The Japanese worked out back in the eighties and nineties how to circumvent trade protectionism in the auto industry by opening factories in the markets you want to be in.

And the range of a BYD battery pick-up towing its maximum permissible load?
110km. That’s around one fifth to a quarter of a diesel equivalent.
Battery power is not the future.

Isuzu will invest $900 million to build EV pickups in Thailand

Hua Hin showing the way with one of the largest EV charging stations in Thailand!!

A new EV charging station, which is being touted as the largest of its kind in southern Thailand, has opened on Phetkasem Road in central Hua Hin.

The Bangchak Corporation has unveiled “The Chlorophyll @ Hua Hin,” which the company says is its first lifestyle mall, and which is now open as part of a “Phase 1” soft opening.
Located adjacent to the Bangchak Hua Hin Phetkasem service station at kilometer 216 on Phetkasem Road, the mall is open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The new station boasts what the company says is the largest EV Pavilion in southern Thailand, featuring eight electric vehicle fast-charging stations, catering to the growing demand for EV infrastructure in the region.

In addition to the charging stations, The Chlorophyll @ Hua Hin brings a range of dining and shopping options.

Restaurants including Ciao Pizza Hua Hin, Jin Dimsum, and Ai CHA, an ice cream and tea shop, provide a range of culinary experiences. There’s also a wellness clinic and gallery from Hua Hin Artists Village. Shoppers can also enjoy Inthanin coffee and explore the other retail outlets, with plans to expand the selection of shops soon.

The company says the mall embraces a “Connecting with Nature” concept, designed to reflect the unique character of Hua Hin’s environment. Its architecture incorporates tropical and vacation home styles, blending urban green spaces with elements reminiscent of old Hua Hin.

The Chlorophyll @ Hua Hin is located adjacent to the Bangchak Hua Hin Phetkasem service station at kilometer 216 (Soi Hua Hin 45/1). It is open daily from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM

Theres more chargers than that in Bluport alone!
