This amused me today - the solid base on which to build the scaffolding. A couple of nails into the concrete uprights to secure some wooden planks. What else would they need?

A life jacket!! Looks like they’re getting ready to render the outside.

Yes, they've already done some of the other side.

Took my new 'Point & Shoot' to the lake today to give it a try - at least I'd be able to see what I was photographing. The carbuncle is starting to take a bit of shape but mini-constructions within the larger construction are happening.

caller's 'Grand Entrance' is being shaped with a freestanding mini-pointy arch within a larger pointy arch.

Maybe they're clearing a bit of lakeside land to make a car park.

I've been believing for a while that this section at the back could be a lakeside café.

However, having said that, I still haven't got a clue what it is yet :D

At last. they've cleared a lot of building debris, and hopefully somebody can make a guess at what it is.

It is split into 3 distinct modules (left, middle and right) with a large open passageway between modules. We already know from Saturday's photo, that the rear (lakeside) of the carbuncle has been left open. So very little of the structure, despite being under cover of a roof has no walls.

Personally, apart from a possible café area at the back, I still don't have a clue what it might be.

I would hope no cafe, bathroom or anything where waste water and/or sewage would enter the lake, which it inevitably will if they have those type facilities in there.

Can you see any signs of plumbing pipes underneath of it?

Very good point, and I haven't seen any plumbing whatsoever. Where I indicated with the arrow, there is a concrete platform, basically at water level, but noting on it yet. Funny, without thinking plumbing, I did have that area above earmarked as a potential toilet block. That area was built up using red bricks, where as the rest of the carbuncle used blocks.

It does seem to be common practice to use the small red bricks for bathrooms. When I asked a builder why he said because they had always done it this way !!??

Looking at them tarting up the shoddy concrete work today, and I had a vision..................

As we've seen, about 2/3rds of the perimeter wall has been left open. I was thinking how modern it would look if those gaps were filled in with huge panes of black reflective glass. I'm not sure that it would look good, but they have to do something - the gaps/open spaces are too large...... or are they?

Are you allowed to fish in this lake BB? My son is back from uni for a month or so and wants to go fishing locally.

Yes, it has loads of fish - I think stocked as a Royal initiative each year to feed the local people (I'm not sure about that, but they certainly put a lot of fish in each year). The snakeheads are the prized beasts, but you need live bait for those. Some very large fish, as well as all of the usual suspects. There are fishing restrictions (early morning/late evening). Fairly easy to find a shady spot to sit under.

Free to fish. I've been tempted, but never taken my rods out of retirement yet.

Strange restrictions, those are the best times to get bites!

Yes, but that path around the lake is used a lot by walkers/runners at those times. Fishermen aren't the tidiest of people, and I'd imagine leave a lot of trip hazards.

Try to get a line under that new building. Fish like shady places like that to hide.
