Long Covid-19 infections and multiple Covid-19 vaccinations might let hidden diseases surface, weaken immunity and lead to cancer and brain disorders, according to authorities from Chulalongkorn and Rangsit universities.

The warning came from Prof Dr Thiravat Hemachudha, director of the Thai Red Cross Emerging Infectious Diseases Health Science Centre at Chulalongkorn University, and Panthep Puapongphan, dean of the College of Oriental Medicine at Rangsit University.

They stated on Sunday that symptoms that remained longer than three months after Covid-19 infection were called "long Covid" and included symptoms concerning the heart, lungs and nerves as well as the inflammation of skin, tendons, fibrous tissue, muscles and joints.

They could also lead to cancer and might spark outbreaks of illnesses that lay dormant, such as herpes, they said.

Prof Dr Thiravat and Mr Panthep stated that there were efforts to conceal data about the people affected and killed by vaccinations, and the official number of people affected by vaccinations was thus unrealistically low.

Consequently, many people were unaware that vaccinations affected them and they could not find proper treatment.

They also said that the mortality rate of Thais rose from its levels before and during the Covid-19 pandemic. They urged for investigation to find out if it was related to vaccinations. They did not give relevant numbers.

Studies in other countries showed that Covid-19 vaccination killed some people who suffered damage to their systems including their heart, blood and respiratory systems, they claimed.

In addition, the Faculty of Medicine at Chulalongkorn University found nearly 100 Covid-19 cases who were vaccinated had the inflammation and protein conditions that indicate brain disorders, they said, with some already showing brain disorder symptoms.

Prof Dr Thiravat and Mr Panthep also quoted Ramathibodi Hospital as reporting a research project by the Faculty of Medicine at Mahidol University that after their third jabs of Covid-19 vaccination, some people had weak T-Cell immunity. It meant that excessive vaccinations might weaken immunity, they said.

The true data should be revealed, they said, to let people make informed decisions on their vaccination, they said.

Though the vaccinations undoubtedly saved many, particularly those with underlying conditions, the 'forced' vaccinations of the young and healthy (lose job without vax, can't participate in normal society without vax, kids can't study without vax) will no doubt prove more and more controversial as time goes by with the beauty of hindsight.

Well that's a bit of a put down!

I'm a retired Nurse with a Masters in Non medical Prescribing and my patients never questioned my expertise!

He also has 'Real' Dr's as guests to make people like you happy.

That wasn't meant to be a 'put down' on nurses. I have a lot of respect for the nursing profession. Under paid and over worked. Without them the NHS would certainly collapse.
Just pointing out that although a nurse has a lot of experience, he/she is not a doctor.

Doctors are required to complete four years of medical school and a multi-year residency before they can officially enter the workforce as a physician. Nurses, on the other hand, can begin working much more quickly. It's possible to earn RN licensure and begin practicing as a nurse with a two-year nursing degree.

At the time, it was sold that the vaccination might reduce transmission and/or infection. Thus saving others. We now know that not to be true so... hindsight.

Covid outbreak at Prachuap prison

Public health officials are gearing up to open an emergency operations centre (EOC) to control the Covid-19 situation at provincial Prachuap Khiri Khan prison, where clusters of infections have been confirmed.

Dr Opas Karnkawinpong, public health permanent secretary, on Saturday said authorities have intensified surveillance efforts following the discovery of 79 Covid-19 cases at the prison.

The first case was detected on March 27, when a 35-year-old female inmate was admitted to Prachuap Khiri Khan Hospital with influenza-like symptoms and tested positive for Covid-19, he said. Meanwhile, a male inmate also tested positive during a prison transfer screening, he said.

The cases prompted provincial health officials to screen every inmate and prison official for Covid-19 using antigen test kits, from March 28–29, he said. Of 1,906 inmates, 70 were confirmed to be infected, while of the 85 prison officials, nine were confirmed, he said. Those infected were isolated for five days while samples were collected for analysis, he said.

Dr Opas said the agencies concerned are preparing to set up the EOC to manage the Covid-19 situation and contain the spread of the virus.

From March 17–23, 630 new Covid-19 cases with five deaths were detected in the country, according to the Department of Disease Control's weekly report.

Of the new cases, 222 suffered from severe pneumonia, with 74 requiring endotracheal intubation, it said, noting the accumulated cases and deaths so far this year stand at 6,238 and 60, respectively.

Dr Yong Poovorawan, director of the Center of Excellence in Clinical Virology at the Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University, wrote on Facebook this week, saying Covid-19 infections would drop during the summer and start to rise again in June. He said the JN.1 sub-variant of the Omicron Covid-19 variant was the dominant strain and noted that it did not appear to cause more severe symptoms.

Dr Yong said people should test for Covid-19 when showing respiratory symptoms and isolate if they have a heavy cough or fever. After they improve, they can resume their normal activities, but they should wear face masks for at least five days and observe hygiene practices, he said.

Covid cases surge after Songkran, as expected

The number of Covid-19 cases has increased as expected after Songkran celebrations as the JN.1 strain remains dominant in the country, the Department of Disease Control (DDC) said on Sunday.

DDC director-general Thongchai Keeratihattayakorn said there were 1,004 new reported Covid-19 cases, a daily average of 143 new cases, and three deaths in the week ending Apr 20. The deceased were in the "608 at-risk" group of elderly people with a chronic disease..............
