Day trips by Train from Hua Hin

Post by Mikeyb »

I am looking at doing a few day trips via train from Hua Hin. I have done Petchaburi, where else is possible to get there and back in the day?
Any ideas thanks

Although I’ve never done it, you could go in the opposite direction and go to Prachuab Kiri Khan, that will be just a little bit further but I’m sure doable in a day.

Whilst it is doable, you don't really get very long in Prachuap (about 3 hours, I think) unless you want a late night return to Hua Hin, but it is all very reliant upon the train being on time. We did it once, and the train South was over an hour late, but worse still was the train home - that was just as late, but you have to turn up at the stated time, or risk missing it. We ended up with less than 2 hours in Prachuap.

Yep, Thai trains are notoriously slow and late so you wont have much time in any destination more than an hour away. I'd stay a night or two to really see Prachuap. Further south you have Ban Krut and Bangsaphan, both quiet beach towns and very different from Hua Hin.
