Thailand belittled again as U.S. ostracizes it from democracy summit
Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha's administration is sensing disquiet in Washington as U.S. President Joe Biden shows a belittling diplomatic attitude toward the kingdom, most recently by ostracizing Thailand from the Summit for Democracy.
The two-day virtual summit kicks off on Thursday with over 100 countries, territories and regions -- including ASEAN members the Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia -- on the invitation list. The White House says the event will "set forth an affirmative agenda for democratic renewal and to tackle the greatest threats faced by democracies today through collective action." It is widely seen as a forum to encourage invitees to ally more closely with the U.S. than with China.
The kingdom, Southeast Asia's second-largest economy, did not make the list.

Thailand will be a Chinese autonomous region in about a decade, along with Laos and Cambodia.

You'd see its already happening if you opened your eyes instead of sniping from your keyboard in typical fashion.
It all starts with infrastructure which China provides on loan or at a discount and then takes control of when the country defaults on the debt.

Military assets too...

Oh, and then there are vaccines and the premise that Thailand's food monopoly has very close ties to the CCP.

There are a lot more examples but I have better things to do.

How dare US speak about democracy ? This terrorist country is a shame. Should first find solutions to his own problems instead of imposing his rules to other countries.

No great fan of Biden hes brain dead but all the Americans have done is not send a invite and the people voted him in and they can vote him out.

Everyone who votes is voting against someone.europtimiste wrote: ↑Fri Dec 10, 2021 4:17 pmThose who voted for him were against Trump and unfortunately there was not any other candidate.

I've said before: How is a country of 350+ million not able to produce 2 votable candidates? This election Trump v Biden, the last one Clinton v Trump.

Not sure any country can claim to be a democracy any more. Even if the crooks are elected, they rarely do what they promised and so out of touch with their constituents. All they seem to do is tax, steal & waste other people's money.
No sympathy from me though, as the idiots keep reelection incumbents / career politician who promise to make things better, but have failed to while in office for decades. Want change, stop reelecting the same thieves.

It's really a statement about our political system in the US. Candidates still come from the "old boy" system. That's why Trump was such an anomaly

Because the country doesn't choose the candidates, the parties do. It's always about the money and the way in which they tap into the prejudices of people.

Most of you don't get it. It's about what Rupert Murdock did with his Fox (not News) for 20 years. They title it News but is really constant negative opinion on anything and everything regarding any change. All this goes on while China keeps whittling away with the rest of the world.

We have entered into the China Century. China now has the world's largest economy & the world's largest military.
I think we will see more countries looking at China's progress and thinking, if we have the same type of government, we can have the same progress. Unfortunately, it will lead to more authoritarianism with little progress for the population.

^^ China has a growing debt problem. Evergrande (in default now, I think), Chinese high speed railway system, local government finance vehicles (LGFVs). China Rail Corporation (CRC), which builds and runs high speed rail, had debt of 850 billion USD at end of 2020. China's foreign debt 2.5 trillion USD.
It's a bubble waiting to burst..

Govt. debt of sovereign nations, who print and mint their own currency, is a myth. They simply print the money they need. Of course, it is inflationary but it's not the end of the world.hhinner wrote: ↑Sat Dec 11, 2021 1:20 pm ^^ China has a growing debt problem.
