Purchased new car in Phuket
a few months ago
drove it up here to Pranburi where we have a house and now permanently reside
The "helpful " person at the Pranburi Road Transportation Office advised i would need to go to the Office in Prachuap
to change the address
Do i really need to go all the way there or is the new Office in Bluport able to cope with this ?
thanks in advance
Change of Car Registration Address
Re: Change of Car Registration Address
Prachuap is the only office for change number plate.
Can't be done anywhere else

Re: Change of Car Registration Address
i have the new number plates on the car now, they were sent here from the dealer a few weeks ago,
the original plates have been returned
the original plates have been returned
Re: Change of Car Registration Address
I assume you're talking about re-registering the car. Having done it myself, I can confirm that it requires two trips to Prachuab, one for the paperwork and another for the new plates.
Changing the address in the province where the car is registered is a simple procedure, however as you've moved to a different province, the car needs to be re-registered.
The address only comes into play for issuing fixed penalty notices. I have two cars, one is coming up to 20 years old and is still registered in Bangkok. Never been a problem.
Edit: Missed your last post. If the dealer has sent you new plates, are they Phuket plates? If so, then my post stands.
You say that it was a new car. In which case the 'new' plates are for the original registration in Phuket. I guess the plates you returned were 'dealer plates'.

Re: Change of Car Registration Address
/\ HHTel..When changing address within the province the car is registered do you still need the "annoying" proof of address from imm.?

Re: Change of Car Registration Address
Yes. The car was supplied with "red" temporary dealer plates. They posted new white plates about 4 weeks ago and I returned the red plates.
Now living in Prachuap, Pranburi, I thought I would need to change the address to reflect this - registration renewal notices etc.
I guess my options are to leave it as is { like your 20 year old Bangkok car}, or re-register in PKK.
If re-registering, this cannot be done at Pran Buri or Bluport ??, and needs to be done at PKK and involves 2 trips ?
Thank You

Re: Change of Car Registration Address
Our 1994 car is still registered in Bangkok. The insurance co. sends its yearly renewal stickers to our address in Hua Hin and has never questioned it. They don't know what you don't tell them.
Re: Change of Car Registration Address
This isn't a problem. The province of registration doesn't need to be the province where the owner lives. You can still pay the annual tax at any DLT office.handdrummer wrote:Our 1994 car is still registered in Bangkok. Re: Change of Car Registration Address
The only reason I re-registered my second car was because it was registered in BKK, being second hand, and would have meant me travelling to the DLT office in BKK to complete the sale.
