All travelers are required to purchase valid travel insurance that covers medical expenses including COVID-19 treatments of up to 50,000 U.S. dollars. The previous coverage required was 100,000 U.S. dollars.

Travelers will no longer be required to apply for their Certificate of Entry with a Thai embassy or consulate. Instead, they must submit their information online on the website https://tp.consular.go.th/ seven days before their departure to obtain their Thailand Pass QR Code, which must be presented at the disease control and immigration checkpoint upon arrival.

Thanks Joelle, looks like I will have to wait until Monday next week before I can start the process although obtaining the $50,000 insurance will be the first issue to overcome - currently they are still offering only $100,000 cover. Then to book a hotel for the first nights stay and once I have those, apply to the London Thai Embassy and submit all my details - at least I now have some spare days in case I encounter any issues!!

I’ve been in touch with Matt but the insurance he offered to me only covers people up to 75, but if there’s anything available for anyone older, I’m sure he’ll know.

Medical Ins. for foreign residents: this is in todays BKK Post " The CCSA will meet today to discuss the health insurance exemption issue for foreign residents. It should be effective hopefully before Nov 1, he said."

^^ I understood from the briefing that this would apply to those who already have insurance in Thailand.

I think the attached is a bit different than what has been posted previously and for fully vaccinated visitors from any of the approved 46 countries, it only mentions that you are required to book and stay in a SHA+ hotel for one night - no mention that it has to be in Bangkok? Next week, I will look to see if you can book a hotel (with approved secure transfer) in HH or CA.

I would rather rely on TATnews for saying the hotel must be less than 2 hours from the airport than any other forum.

It looks like it is situation normal in regard to the approach by individual consulates regarding COE/Thailand Pass. As I have a poor internet connection I feared waiting for the Thailand Pass to kick in to get my entry clearance for the 17th November. I will travel from Singapore and while others appear to have been told to apply for the Thailand Pass by the London Embassy I have been issued a COE for my travel by the Singapore Consulate. Perhaps this is because I still have to do the 10 day quarantine. I hope the new app works but the track record is not so good. I feel a lot happier with the COE in my hand.
Not being vaccinated yet I am a little cautious as I view the latest changes where other vaccinated travellers in the airports may not have had a PCR test. A colleague who travels at the same time but from Singapore to Poland does not require the PCR test for travel. While there is always a risk that a fellow traveler whether vaccinated or not and tested pre-travel will be a carrier the chances of an asymptomatic carrier or infected vaccinated person being amongst the travellers will be much higher.
No doubt my first priority once home will be to sort out getting vaccinated.
