Parcels sent to Thailand

My regular shipments of cigars, oops I mean sundry cheap gifts, are like a lottery. Some come through with no cutoms, others with a tax, but never the same amount. Haven't had a shipment though since covid. I do have a package coming in (truly sundry gift items I forgot) that was tracked today into BKK so we will see what happens.

With my, errr, normal shipments if they allow them to pass, I don't mind paying the tax, it's when they seize them I don't like.

BTW a shipment of "gift items" was seized last year, mid August. Customs had made it pretty clear to me not to pick up anymore so I left it unclaimed. It arrived back in the states, intact, mid March 7 months later, still smokable, I mean usable.

i need to get something sent from UK to HH
on this occasion its just a UK sim card, small package
hopefully not worth snaffling like they have in past in BKK!!

so, who is the best courier to use?

My son has sent me tea bags before(long story, dont ask!) usung the standard Royal Mail International delivery service (about £15 if i recall)and the last time he did they just didnt turn up!

And when they previously did show up it would take 4 weeks to get here

On this occasion 4 weeks wouldnt be a problem

who do people on here trust with their goods or think is a good service?

as i say in theory this is a low value package ans not urgent timewise

I always use the Post Office, but make sure it has to be signed for.

If it was me sending a SIM card from the UK I would use the Post Office - I would assume by ordinary post rather than it being classified as a parcel which normally arrives in about 2 weeks on average where I live in Cha Am although I know that in HH it can take longer.

There’s a thread somewhere detailing the experiences of postal service in Hua Hin - I don’t know whether it’s as bad now, but at one stage when the main office was near the traffic lights, you could be offered the opportunity to look for your post yourself in the “sorting office”!!

Always used the P.O. (tracked) and never had a problem. Received my new bank/credit cards just a few days ago. Took 5 days.
