Sony Pictures to set up amusement park in Thailand

Post by buksida »

Sony Pictures Entertainment has teamed up with Thailand's Amazon Falls to set up an amusement park based on productions from its Columbia Pictures studio, in the Southeast Asian country, the companies said on Tuesday.

The 14-acre Columbia Pictures' theme and water park, Aquaverse, will be open for public from October and feature rides and attractions based on the studio's popular movies including Ghostbusters, Jumanji, Bad Boys, Men in Black and Hotel Transylvania.

Amusement parks are gradually reopening across the globe as Covid-19 vaccinations gather pace. Walt Disney's two theme parks in California are slated to reopen later in April to a limited number of guests, over a year after they were closed.

Bangsaray, Pattaya.
Sony Pictures Entertainment and Amazon Falls announced today that they have closed a deal to develop a 14-acre prime location in the seaside town of Bangsaray, Thailand, as Aquaverse, the world’s first Columbia Pictures theme and water park.

The park’s rides and attractions will be ready to open in October. The state-of-the-art attractions are based on the studio’s legendary franchises, i.e. Ghostbusters, Jumanji, Bad Boys, Men in Black and Hotel Transylvania.

Catering to visitors of all ages, the park – located 20 minutes from Pattaya and 90 minutes from Bangkok – will encompass eight highly themed and immersive zones with an incredible range of both water- and land-based attractions and include an exciting program of live shows, immersive entertainment, interactive props, unique sets, themed restaurants, as well as specialty merchandise and retail locations.

There is already a Cartoon Network water slide and park there, RamaYana Waterpark which is said to be the largest in SEAsia, as well as Nong Nooch Gardens which has been there for decades. They should rename the town Theme Park City.

... and Legend Siam theme park, and the soon to be completed Chocolate Ville themed site that will feature resturants etc (there is also one in Bangkok) https://preparetravelplans.com/chocolate-ville-bangkok/

This planned park is going to be almost next door to Cartoon Network, one of them will go broke.

Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.
