Sending parcel from Hua hin to Australia by sea

Post by Bilbo52 »

I want to send to a mate who has had to return to Australia and unlikely to return to Thailand some of his possession that he left behind in Hua hin.

He is not bothered about how long the parcel takes to get back to him and I suspect sea passage will be cheaper than by air.

The parcel weighs approx 12Kg and has the following dimensions: 50 x 50 x 20 cm.

Any thoughts on who to use for surface shipping? (BTW I have enquired at the Post Office and they are only doing EMS and courier services by air at the moment).

Thanks in advance.

I imagine that an internet search for shipping companies in Thailand would turn up some possibilities.

Try Seven Seas, I used them to ship from the UK, but I understand they're an international firm.

I'd give Seven Seas the thumbs up as well. I used them on the way to Thailand, and know of a few others that used them. You can get a free online quote from their web page https://www.sevenseasworldwide.com/en-th/

And you can track the ship! I still remember mine docking at Singapore and thinking, 'won't be long now'. Next time I looked it was in Korea!

I did the reverse Oz to Thailand. Never do it again. They held my stuff hostage in customs for 6 weeks, and charged me a kings ransom. But it was priceless family keepsakes so I had no options.

Just out of interest and as it’s a relatively small package, has the OP made enquiries with someone like DHL to see how much they would charge?

If there's no hurry it might be better to wait for surface mail to Australia to resume.

Thanks all for your informed comments. I will look at Seven Seas and Packsend. Prior checked with DHL but cost was around 10k baht (by air).
