The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration has cancelled Chinese New Year celebrations in Yaowarat, the city's Chinatown, this month, citing Covid-19 worries.

Bangkok governor Aswin Kwanmuang announced the decision on Thursday.

Normally, the Samphanthawong district office, business and civic leaders in Yaowarat organise a big annual Chinese New Year celebration.

The festival this year would have centred around Feb 12.

I think the usual Hua Hin Celebrations have been cancelled also, although I'm sure the hotels will gladly sell overpriced food and call it part of the New Year celebrations.
