There are many things that can cause a PC to slow down; old hardware, limited resources (RAM, CPU), a decade-old operating system (Win7), overheating, malware, slow internet connectivity, dated browsers, too many programs running, etc etc.

I just swapped out my three-year-old laptop hard drive for a new SSD, re-formatted with a clean Windows 10 install, and the thing runs like new again! The hard disk itself makes a big difference.

Funnily enough, I've just been talking to somebody else who did exactly that on Saturday. He too says the results were quite amazing.
