To be honest I don't know the basis on which it's calculated. There were two other more recent years when the transport office was closed on 3-Jan, so I taxed the car the following day on 4-Jan and they charged 28 Baht fee for being one day late. Anyway, I should have taxed the car before the new year holiday period, but I didn't realise it was possible until recently. I tend to assume everything here is inflexible and always least-benefitting the customer.
