LG Smart TV

Post by Midsman »

I have had my Smart TV for approx 5 years. When I am using APPS on the W.W.W it keeps closing down saying..... This App is closing looking for more space. Updates are On in settings. Is this because the computer on my tv is outdated now and updates unavailable now ?

Regards in Advance

Try to Google on the exact error message and see if you find something useful. Maybe LG have some support site or user forum that could help.

I had the same problem with a Panasonic smart TV, I only really used it to watch music videos in a home bar via the YouTube app. After about five years, I turned it on and got a "No longer supported on this device" message when I tried to use it.
They don't tell you that when you buy them, they're only "Smart" for five years!

Before you throw away the set and replace it see below:

"While a smart TV may become obsolete after a few years, you can easily replace your streaming device or take it with you to a new TV. See our comparison of the best 4K streaming devices to see which is best for you."

https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/chromecas ... n-fire-4k/. That's one of many articles if you Google "streaming devices".

You can pick up an Amazon Fire Stick at Lazada or elsewhere for the Thai price of around 2,000 Baht. Link it with a VPN and you can watch just about anything in the world.

Alternatively you could hook up a laptop to your TV and use that as your streaming device.

LG's run Android so, just like your phone, there could just be too many apps on it. Try deleting a few you don't use to free up space. My TV does the same thing sometimes when I want to stream stuff from an external hard disk.

LGs run something called WebOS which I think is not Android. Mine does anyway. You're right about having too many apps. You'd think smart TVs would come with a bit more memory.
