Latest English Language TV deals

Post by NOKYAI »

I have been happy with my Gee un Tung fibre and cable TV package for a couple of years, but recently they have dropped the main channels I watched and one of the remaining channels is often in Spanish or German.

As I'm here full time now I think it's time to upgrade the Packages, so what are people using?

Do people use dodgy boxes, Netflix, or the brit thing and VPN, or a local package. The only sport needed is F1 and 6 nations...No football. We do like to curl up and watch films accasionally!

Take a look at the below thread. Some info is dated but it's a start until someone comes on with updated options.

Note: We'll probably move your post over to that thread later on today.

For F1 coverage I have the basic cable package from G Cable (around 3,000 baht per year). On the HD channels they got Fox Sports 1,2 and 3 with full live coverage of F1 free practice, Qualies and race. Also all the tennis Majors. No 6 nations sorry.

Netflix at around 420 baht a month is great for TV shows, documentaries and movies but no sports.

I like the AIS package where you get pretty decent Internet and English TV Package (Play Box) fairly cheaply, but can't compete with sateeb's G Cable pricewise. We supplement AIS with TV Mucho and I have a freebie Thai package that fills in any gaps.

We tried G Cable for quite a while, but quality in our area deteriorated to the point TV became like watching a blizzard. Unfortunately, the service could not be improved at that time. I have heard others having a similar problem. If you go for the G solution, I suggest you check with neighbours using G to ensure their reception is OK.

Where I am in Tub Tai I would say reception of G Cable is 80/20. Short dropouts on some channels when there is bad weather. Can be frustrating at times especially watching live sport, but on the whole good VFM.

Not a criticism sateeb, just pointing out we persevered for a couple of years, but they couldn't fix it for us. We've had others on here with a similar problem. I know there are many satisfied customers.

Since we have been living here we have gone through an array of systems for news and entertainment From the days of setting up a movable sat dish and decoder get past the thai systems to going to a "smart TV" + android box to now using an android based TV with access to google play and many other movie and entertainment apps. Still exploring it but did like the feature of voice control so just ask the TV for ABC news (Australia) or Bloomberg (USA) and up it comes! Not sure about UK as there maybe some Geo location blocking issues unless your using a local UK VPN (Not sure if they still have a license system in the UK for TV?)

I guess my TV is getting a bit long in the tooth as well, being 12 years old! Perhaps it’s time to retire it to a guest bedroom and start with the latest thing in TVs.

There’s an amazing choice of TV’s available these days and at very affordable prices. The only issue with most slim TV’s is the sound is a little compromised, so consider investing in a Soundbar too.

That's an understatement.

I use HDprimeTV through fiber wi-fi. Have it downloaded direct to smart TV and also on laptop and tablets. About 200 baht per month for all the TV channels I need (Sky sports, premier football and all the UK standard hannels). Occasional problems buffering but is normally pretty good.

Back up on my phone is LivenetTV has all the sports channels and more, is free but have to put up with adverts

Air TV extra, in my opinion is the best IPTV streaming service around, available on Android box or fire TV stick. They give a free 2-3 day trial
They have 7 days catch-up and VOD
Make sure you go for the Extra package, not the regular Air TV, as its far superior.
I've been using this service for a couple of years
