And good grammar lesson from HHTel. :)

He vapes/is vaping.
He's a vaper.
He uses a vapour.
Is it though? I thought HHTel made a mistake.
I thought

He vapes/is vaping
He's a vaper
He uses a vaper which produces vapour

I've seen them called 'vapours' (or vapors in the US). Or just vapes.

They are vapourisers (vaporizers) not vaperizers after all.

Not sure I care either way. Maybe stick to 'e-cigarette' in future. :)

My friend has just received his e-cigarette in the post and is really pleased with it. It gives off no offensive clouds of smoke and he can puff on it (like a normal cigarette) and exhale something that looks like smoke. Just to test out its offensiveness he puffed it in his friend's face, and said friend replied that it hardly smelled at all.

I think the juice/liquid he's using is American tobacco - not a heavily scented fruit variety.

Smoking ex pats

Post by Michaelpum »

I have also given up smoking 3 months ago after a health scare and can honestly say it is worth while.
I beleive the only way to stop properly is to go cold turkey which is what i did and i suppose the fact i have had a health scare gave me the incentive to stop.
Am really proud of myself and hopefully will never start again?

In one of my local watering holes I notice that almost all Swiss smoke continually, and there are many of them. No consideration for anyone. It's a largish place but it does mean that I and other non smokers have to move or end up in a dispute.

Move or stay at home.
Not accepting smokers is non tolerance.

europtimiste-- History is against you--- there will be more and more restrictions as time goes by. It is also interesting that cannabis is increasingly replacing tobacco as the weed of choice by young people.

yep, the anti-smoking tide is not about to turn in any of our lifetimes. It will only get more and more anti. The restrictions will increase slowly and steadily. I don't like it, or agree with it but I do accept that is how it is.

Yes I agree, we all need to accept the fact that none of us are capable of making our own choices and/or decision, and therefore we need Big Brother to do this for us.

Fortunately, Big Brother has no intention of stopping with smoking. Already we are slowly but surely being prevented from eating/drinking whatever we want. The recently imposed sugar tax in certain countries is a prime example.

Thank goodness I won't be around 50 yeas from now. How ironic that the masses vote for the same people who are eroding their freedom. If you look at the world today, we have quite obviously screwed up in a big way and yet we plunder on in the same direction year after year.

Anyway, I'll have one last cigarette, then take my kids to school through pollution filled streets, after which I'll have a nice high fat Scottish breakfast just for good measure before the government bans bacon and pork sausages.

I agree with Takiap, big brother is forcing their will. Even in that bastion of sin, Las Vegas, the bigger casinos have already banned cigars and pipes. A pit boss told me cig's are next.

I only smoke cigars but, knowing many people do not like the smell, I tend to sit away from others. The only couple times I didn't, and got mad, was when people chose to sit by me (other seats were available) and, after a while, complained to me. I told them "tough shit" I was here first.

If there were no other seats I would have been more understanding and moved.
The proper function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.

I think as well, because younger generations have been brought up with smoking restrictions at work, in public places and very few people smoke inside their homes anymore, they have less problems controlling the habit.
Also, if they're from most of the West, they've never lived in an era where you could afford to smoke three packs a day!

I stopped smoking four years ago after been diagnosed with COPD, and I miss it most every day. When people around me are smoking I'm sitting sniffing and missing the good times I've had with a beer in one hand and a cigarette in the other. The beer is still there nowadays though!
