Cheap prefix code for calling the uk

Post by raphoedon » Wed Sep 06, 2017 5:26 pm

I just spent 300 bht on a 3 to 4 minutes call to the uk using 001 44 thinking this was cheaper.
Is there one better because as much as I love my drinking buddies in Scotland they don't justify £7 per call

I use 0050044***********, which gives me a cheap AIS rate. Other companies have different codes.

I use 007 or 009. Much cheaper than the norm.

I use Skype to call the US. But you need internet.

As with RCer I use an Internet based system either through LAN at home or mobile internet on my phone. It is particularly inexpensive when ringing back to Oz and your placed on hold for extended periods. Most family and friends have the same app so calls are free. Otherwise I use a prepaid account similar to skype for non app calls. It is pretty close to seamless and once the app is opened and same as making a normal call. Voice quality is generally better than the subscriber network. Downside. Need Internet access, sometimes need to reconnect call after 60 mins and incoming normal network calls will take precedence.

I can call most of my friends in the uk using whatsapp, but for my old Mum it has to be a landline.

The "Line" app works well in UK as does Facebooks' Messenger App. I have used both on my Android Moby without problems. My normal provider here is True Move, I need to use this route to call my sister. I still find this relatively cheap at around 50baht for a 20 minute call. (No extra prefixes used)

I use Skype to ring my 82 year old mother in the UK. It is £2.40 a month for any landlines. It has also come in handy to ring about my pensions etc. And as someone commented, I also use Line with friends in the UK which is free when using internet accesss.

I'm on AIS One 2 Call Pay As You Go and call England using the country code +00344. Call quality is good and it costs B5.5 per min.

(Don't know if you have to have a One 2 Call SIM to get this rate).

Thanks again to Bigboy, I've now made 5 calls to the uk using 00500 and still have credit from the second 300 bht top up.
Marvellous.
